Imperial Court
Hi everyone, I am sending this mail to all lists so everyone can view it,
it may happen that any of your responses may even in part also be posted to
all lists along with any responses to them.
I am writing to express my profound disappointment at Thursdays Imperial
court RP and it time to respond.
ICLY, when the Emperor commands your presence at court, YOU MUST GO.
Siridars are the highest level subjects of the imperium and the
representatives of each House and are hence required to attend Imperial
Court. They would be the characters that the emperor would talk to about
important issues rather than lower ranking officials. What do you think
you have a choice to obey or not? The emperor could have you killed for
disobeying him if he chose to. Everyone fears the wrath of the Emperor and
you do as he says, like it or not. You drop everything you are doing and
you go and see him, even if you are not on Kaitain. Even if you are in the
middle of a battle. If you cannot go and cannot get your people to go then
an IC reason must be worked out to account for it. Otherwise Jeon has
every right to ICly demand a reason for you absence.
OOCly, I think its quite inconsiderate of Boris and Praxton to host an IC
event the same night and enourage their people to attend that instead of
court. Perhaps Jeon shouldn't waste his time coming up with a TP if you
people are going to snub him. People should be going to court no matter
what he has planned and no matter which TP event was planned earlier.
Imperial court can effect the entire Mush and and is probably the most
important IC event there could be and Boris and Praxton treat it like it
doesn't matter. If oocly you can't make it we have sort of "invented" a
way to get around it by sending someone else, proxy if you will, but that
cannot always get you out of going to court and it should be quite the
exception. Haroon has an OOC reason because the time difference between him
and Jeon is too great but he has the sense and responsiblity to send people
in his place. OCLY if you and your people can't make it you can't ignore
it, try to reschedule the court so someone can make it or as I said come up
with some IC reason for it. Personally I think Jeon deserves an OOC
apology from some of you.
And by the way, where the HELL was Josef, Jans and Vittorio? You people
have NO excuse either. As I said, send someone in your place (provided you
HAVE people) or spend at the very least a few hours a month going to these
important IC events. (I do recall a Moritani being there so I guess that
gets Vittorio off the hook, however JUST barely) As a Siridar and faction
head you have responsibilites you can't ignore and you cannot think there
will be no repercusions. Of the four days of mush wide TPs the first three
are basically celebrations and social events and you can basically come and
go as you please but an Imperial court session is not one of them.
Also, its not just the houses either. Bene Gesserits and certain members
of the Guild would likely attend too. Particularly the Imperial
Truthsayer would likely attend, but she too missed this event.
The only players that may not need a reason would be Jeon's own people.
In the future, Imperial court needs to be taken more seriously, this is not
certainly first time its been disappointing, not even the second time
either. Although Im sure that there will be times when things are not
perfect, right now its so unthematic its not worth having Imperial court
anymore. I hope that we can improve it so its worth doing in the future.
