Rivelo says, "Oyez, oyez, oyez. Welcome to the First OOC Players
Meeting."
Rivelo says, "The agenda will be as follows: I will give a brief
prologue, then we'll have some Q&A, and then I'll give a... you guessed
it... an epilogue."
Rivelo says, "Please read 'oocinfo meetings' NOW."
Rivelo says, "I will be taking the questions, and for the most part
answering those that require an admin answer (although the other admin
will chime in from time to time I'm sure). Zami will be keeping the list
of who's next, so please page her if you wish to speak, then wait until
you are called upon."
Zami waves hi hand!
Zami scratches her head and waves hi instead.
Rivelo looks askance at the Zamboni.
Rivelo says, "When we opened, we knew not every t had been crossed and
every i had been dotted. We have been and will continue to work on
systems, policies, etc. What we'd like to hear from you tonight, in
addition to your questions, are some suggestions about improving the RP
of this place."
Rivelo says, "So, without further ado, I'll open the floor to
questions/suggestions/criticism(keep it
constructive)/comments/whatever."
Rivelo says, "Boris, you have the floor. :)"
Zami notes, "folks, if you'd like to speak, please page me so we can
keep the comments moving smoothly and no one is stepping on anyone
else's feet."
Boris says, "I was going to state what I think is obvious, and I hope
you all think it is too. We need more interhouse rp. We need to get
people out and socializing more."
Rivelo says, "Excellent point. Perhaps tonight we can come up with some
ideas for providing more socializing opportunities for everyone."
Iason nosd to y'all.
Zami nods to Steffan, "comment on Boris' remark."
Steffan says, "yes I agree with Boris...yes..but I concerned too with
theme...how thematic is it for some players to sociallize? Fore example
I wouldn't think you would see the Emperor at the hotel lounge....""
Rivelo says, "No, but the Emperor can hold all the COurts and teas and
meetings and sporting events he wants to. So, Bronc and I will be trying
to do more of that."
Zami nods to Broncalo.
Rivelo says, "ANd certainly, any event hosted by the Emperor or a
Siridar can be attended by another Siridar. And when a Siridar can
socialize, so can anyone below him."
Broncalo says, "We (the admin) have wished from the start to create a
game where admin (OOCly) would be required minimally, and house heads on
down the chain would create RP within the system provided by the admin."
Rivelo says, "Yes. Steffan, a more effective place to make that
suggestion is to your Siridar. Request that he organize a banquet or
arena-duel, or musical/theatrical event. Better yet, organize it
yourself on your House's behalf."
Steffan says, "I think too that the idea of the Olympics is kinda
neat...but others might think its unthematic...."
Rivelo says, "I certainly think we can modify that idea to fit it into
the universe we've created (well, Frank created) and use it as a vehicle
for RP."
Broncalo notes that is where the consent system could come into play,
Granted, I've not read, yet, about this Olymics idea.
Boris says, "Olympics--when I originally proposed it, it was the
Imperial Games. Could be any sports we wnated, not some lame track and
field event:)"
Boris says, "Duelling, karate, marksmanship...maybe the games were
originally a Sardaukar thing. Now the whole Imperium plays."
Zami questions, "so are you looking then for the Imperium to host this
event?"
Boris shrugs. "Could be."
Alethia shrugs and comes to life and pokes Boris.
Boris says, "Alethia liked the idea and asked for input, read her
bbpost.:)"
Rivelo says, "Okay, we'll look into that. Thanks Alethia. Let's move on,
now, though."
Rivelo shields the light from his eyes to look out into the audience,
but hears only crickets.
Zami has a question, "We had designed to have regular "seminars" to help
cover different RP topics... what seminars do people like to see?"
Zami notes you don't have to answer now... just @mail her later.
Zami nods to Elrood, "go ahead."
Elrood says, "Well, as far as an idea on a seminar...I think the newbies
would like to see a seminar on proper addressings, titles, and the like.
I've seen too many people who didn't know to bow at me or what they
should call me, etc. But I'd really like to speak about the admin here.
When I saw the apps for faction heads and the like, I was /impressed/.
I've never seen so much organization at a MU* before, and I think it's
paid off big time. Bronc and Riv have quite obviously busted arse here,
and I don't think they hear the good stuff enough. So I'd like to
congratulate them on a job well done so far. =)"
Elrood says, "Too bad Bronc wasn't here to see that. =P"
Isabel smiles and applauds, "Here here."
Rivelo says, "He'll read the log, and as for that, it really has been a
team effort, with equal praise going to Slyp, Rob, Asaf'nor, and Zami.
On all of their behalf, I thank you."
Rivelo looks around like he's not sure what else to say... :)
Zami nods to Steffan.
Boris throws Rivelo a cold one.
Steffan says, "I would like to ask if there is any info on the
replacement for Moritani faction head? Are you accepting apps for other
new houses?'."
Boris drinks the one intended for Broncalo.
Rivelo says, "Okay, what is your favorite system, and why? (anything
listed under oocinfo rp-systems)"
Elrood says, "Nuh uh."
Rivelo says, "Oops, sorry, Steffan, missed your question. Just a sec..."
Steffan says, "no problem... :)"
Rivelo says, "We have some applications, and we expect more. We'll
accept an application as soon as we're sure we're picking the best
candidate available for the job. Because RP has been a bit slow, and
there are still 7 other strong factions, we feel we can afford some time
to make the best decision. Moritani, by the way, deserves kudos for
continuing to RP even while headless."
Zami nods to Alethia, "You had a comment?"
Alethia says, "What about the TP/RP facilitators, has there been much
done with that?"
Rivelo says, "Good question..."
Rivelo says, "I think there has been some confusion regarding the role
of a TP-facilitator (TPf). Anyone can be a TPf. All they need to do is
get consent from those in the TP. Usually a group of players who find
themselves in a TP that is either growing or moving quickly will ask
someone outside that group to help them keep track of what's going on
and arrange various things... if all the players give their consent to
the TPf, then that player may decide to make up some stuff that happens
to affect the TP... including bad stuff happening to the players
involved."
Rivelo says, "The admin will publish a list of players we feel have
proven themselves to be good at this role, but to date we haven't heard
of anyone doing it."
Rivelo says, "But the important thing is that, like newbiehelping,
anyone can do it... you don't need our permission."
Rivelo says, "Does that make sense?"
Alethia nods
Zami nods to Elrood, "go ahead."
Elrood says, "Getting back to Rivelo's question, I like the
Transportation system the best. It's intricate, usefull, speedy, and
fun! Battle Language is a close 2nd, but we haven't become involved
enough to fully use it, or even plan one out."
Zami nods to Cooper, "go ahead."
Cooper says, "I like the duel system the most. I have never used it, but
it has much higher potential then. 'Target blah, shoot, dodge, etc..'
Thats in comparison to other MUSHs. The other systems are also well
thought out."
Rivelo says in his psychologist's voice, "That's good. Well, our time's
up."
Rivelo says, "Okay, well, good foundation for our first OOC Players
Meeting... perhaps next time will add in some hair-pulling and chair
throwing."
Rivelo says, "Of course, feel free to ask questions as long as we're
hanging around here... I'll be making myself some dinner, so I'll be
prone to idle."
Elrood says, "Which came first, the SandWorm or the Spice?"
Rivelo says, "Sandtrout, actually..."
Zami says, "Steffan has a question."
Elrood looks shocked. "You don't say!"
Rivelo says, "When you're older you'll know these things too, 'rood."
Rivelo says, "Just shout it out, Steffi"
Steffan says, "How do you determine a character's age...I thought the
+sheets would have it.."
Rivelo says, "You mean another character's age?"
Cooper says, "@desc of the player..."
Steffan nods
Rivelo says, "Well, do you know how old someone is by looking at them?"
Steffan says, "the descs don't always say it...and sometime its
difficult to tell from the desc..perhaps an exact number is not
important..."
Rivelo says, "But can you get a pretty good idea in most cases... say,
to within five years? That's how it is here. You kinda have to RP with
them and look at them."
Rivelo says, "Exactly. Its not so important. You can always ask them,
too... 'I'm the head diplo for Moritani, and you're the head diplo for
Hark, and I would ICly know your age, having looked at your dossier...
how old are ya?'"
Elrood says, "Plus it's that way IRL. The only way you know how old
someone is is by looking at them. If someone is decievingly young
looking, it'd be no fun to give away how old they really are. ;)"
Steffan says, "I think the players should age too as they play on the
Mush..."
Cooper says, "The year doesn't change.."
Rivelo says, "The year does change, and players should age their
characters appropriately"
Cooper says, "I was told it doesn't, when does it change?"
Rivelo says, "As a rough guide, one IC year is about 3-4 RL months"
Cooper says, "ok"
Rivelo says, "The LC COngress is held every year, so, as we just had it,
it must be coming up on the new year."
Zami noted, "it hasn't changed yet... a good way to mark the changes of
time are the IC meetings..."
Zami says, "If there are no more questions, the meeting is concluded.
Thank you everyone for coming."
