Dune III - Thursday, February 18, 1999, 2:18 AM
-----------------------------------------------

Circle of Fortune -- Central District (Kaitain)
Running the edges of the street are various posts, all sized to stand at
the height of approximately two average-sized humans. On top of each
post is the flag of another House of the Landsraad. At the center of the
road, the traffic is parted by a large circular medium. The center of
the medium stands the largest post, with the flags of CHOAM and House
Corrino flying proudly. Setup around this are various booths for open
market. The buildings about the roadway also carry signs of the shops
and merchants.

 Ivanova
Exits:
Brick Archway <N> leads to Courtyard - Imperial Conservatory (Kaitain)
Via Pecunia <E> leads to City Center -- Central District (Kaitain)

Helen comes from the City Center.
Helen has arrived.

Tillip comes from the City Center.
Tillip has arrived.

Ivanova folds her arms about her chest as she paces slowly before the
entrance of the new Conservatory. Her steps kick up a bit of dirt from
the ground as they make their mark upon the hard earth. Her attention is
turned downward to those very same steps as she silently waits.

Juhren comes from the City Center.
Juhren has arrived.

Marius walks into the Circle of Fortune from the City Center. Confidence
enters his stride as he spies Lady Rastanyev, and he walks up to her and
says, "My lady, I have been sent ahead to offer my regrets for the
slight delay of House Atreides."

Juhren enters, seeming a little unsteady on his feet. As he walks he
narrowly misses a signpost.

Tillip is holding a filmbook viewer under his right arm. He stands off
to eh side, and then unhooks the viewer from under his arm. He holds it
in front of his face, and slowly inhales and exhales (the sounds
eminating from his mask).

Lifting her head slightly, Ivanova draws her lips thin at the sight of
the man. She gives him only the slightest nod of her head before turning
head to look at the other newly arrived people.

Arn strolls into the place in the company of the Lady Helen. He nods to
Marius and performs a bow to the Rastanyev Regent.

Juhren looks over at the Guildman, smiles lopsidedly, then turns back to
the rest of the people.

Tillip glances up from his viewer to look at the Regent. A cursory nod
is given and then the Guild's Legate resumes his scrutiny of the viewer.

Helen enters with Arn at her side. She nods pleasently to Ivanova

Marius retreats politely from Lady Rastanyev over to the newly arrived
Atreides.

Unfolding her arms, Ivanova begins to approach towards the Guild
representative, thus leaving her vigil before the Conservatory. As she
nears, keeping her distance, Ivanova addresses the strange man,
"Greetings... I am Lady Ivanova Rastanyev."

Juhren pulls something out of his pocket, and takes a quick drink. He
quickly slips it back into his pocket.

Helen gives Marius a warm smile as he joins them.

The Guild Legate lifts up his heads, the harsh sounds of his breathing
have become louder as his chest labours more to bring him air. He fixes
the Regent with his eyes, and the mettalic sounds of a disembodies voice
eminate from his mask. The voice says, "Lady Rastanyev..." he pronounces
ever syllable of her family name so distinctly they could be separate
words. He concludes, "Greetings from the Guild."

Juseppe comes from the City Center.
Juseppe has arrived.

Juseppe bows at those assembled.

Juhren giggles slightly at the funny sound of the legate's words. He
closes his mouth tightly as if embarressed at what came out.

Ivanova inclines her head in turn. She takes a hesistant small step
forward, smiling as a couple more people pass the two before beginning,
"I have need to speak with the Guild... as well as othere CHOAM
Directorate and I am told that you would be the... best suited to speak
with in arranging this?"

Arn greets the Venhei Warmaster with a mirror bow.

Marius mutters to Helen, "My lady, truly you are the gem which adorns
the crowning glory that is House Atreides."

Juseppe bows back to Arn...

The Guild's Legate doesn't reply at first to Lady Rastanyev. Instead,
upon hearing the sound of giggling, he turns his whole body towards
Juhren. He fixes the man with a steady gaze. His brown eyes flicking
from left to right for a short time. Then he turns back and addresses
the Rastanyev Regent, "My Lady," his mettalic voice drones, "needs only
make an appointment with my staff and I should be ..." he pauses as his
chest gulps for air, but after it calms he finishes, "pleased to meet
with her."

Helen mutters to Marius, "... me, Marius... but..."

Juhren looks around as the other people seem to bore him. He steps
unsteadly over to the booths and looks around with disintrest.

Marius mutters to Helen, "... merely..."

Josef comes from the City Center.
Josef has arrived.

Taking the break from his concentration, Ivanova purses her lips
slightly. A muscle at the side of her jaw tightens as she answers,
"Consider this a request for an appointment... Representative of the
Guild."

Juseppe walks over to the lady Atreides.

Juhren looks over toward the group that is wispering and seems to be
irritated by the sound of their voices.

The only reply to the Regent is, "So considered." It is uttered in the
same droning mettalic raspings as before.

Juseppe says, "Hello m'lady I would like to introduce myself, I am
Juseppe the Venhei Warmaster."

Helen gives Juseppe a nod and a warm smile, "Lady Helen Atreides."

Josef slowly walks over to the Lady Rastanyev and gives a deep,
graceful, almost sarcastic bow.

Juhren pulls the bottle out of his pocket, and takes another small swig.
He gulps as the liquid goes down.

Ivanova folds her arms across her chest. She almost seems to breath a
sigh of relief as Josef bows. Taking this opportunity, she laces her
fingers about the man's elbow and begins to guide him forward, "Come
Earl... let us be ready to present our gift to the Emperor."

Juseppe with a beaming smile, "I have many words that describe your
beauty... But I am sorry to say the words pale in comparison of meeting
you."

Tillip lifts his right eyebrow, and shakes his head. He looks back at
his filmbook viewer and tells it, "I was not aware our business was
concluded, but the Great Houses all have ... -bizarre- customs."

Josef looks at the Lady oddly, and does a double take at the presence of
the Lady's fingers on his elbow. "Of course...M'Lady."

Juhren looks upwards at the flags, his head bent back as he stares up.

Helen lowers her eyes, blushing. "You flatter me, Sir...."

Continuing on the arms of Josef, Ivanova makes her way back to the front
of the crowd. She lightly nods and smiles at those she passes along the
way.

Juseppe pulls out a purple rose from with in his coat and gives it to
Helen, "No... You flatter me."

Marius looks at Juseppe, "Indeed, sirrah. your tongue caresses
compliments most indecently."

Hooded Man comes from the City Center.
Hooded Man has arrived.

Arn steps half-way in front of Helen, asking her permission with a
glance, as she is offered Juseppe's rose.

You mutter to Helen, "Be careful, My Lady."

The Guild Legate gently tucks the viewer under his right arm, and then
pivots on his right foot until he is facing a booth. He walks over to a
booth and after speaking to the proprietor is given pen and paper. He
scribbles a note, and hands the propietor a 3 hundred solari notes. The
wide-eyed proprietor scrambles to give the Guild legate some change, but
the Legate has already left.

Ilzecki comes from the City Center.
Ilzecki has arrived.

Hooded Man steps into the market area. The figure looks about quickly,
darting his head up in a jerking motion and trying to avoid any direct
contact with anyone else's eyes. He moves off towards a vendor to one
side, lingering in the darkness of the shadows he finds there.

Juseppe looks at Marius.

Juhren grimaces, and shakes his head as a man in a hood enters. He seems
to disbelieve his own eyes. He closes his eyes and opens them again, as
if the man would disappear. When he does not, Juhren merely shrugs and
begins to inspect the booths again.

Helen murmurs, "Thank you, for the gift, though I fear I have no water
to put it in." She makes a small gesture to Arn.

Josef continues with the Lady Rastanyev, a look of mild confusion would
be seen on his face by any with a properly trained eye. To the casual
observer, he walks about in a proper noble manner.

Juseppe bows once again, "Thank you m'lady. For I must go." and walks
away.

When they finally reach the front of the Conservatory, Ivanova quickly
releases Josef's arm and makes a quick scowling expression towards the
man. She returns to folding her arms before her chest as she slowly
takes a couple of steps to one side or the other, lifting slightly on
her toes to look up above the heads of people and see who comes and
goes.

Hooded Man begins to make his way, booth by booth, closer to the
gathering crowd. He stands before several of the booths but never once
does he actually look at the wares at the table.

Marius mutters to you, "What kind of an ass is that man? Presenting a
rose."

Juhren seemed to see the look on Ivanova's face, and he grins. He
manages to keep the giggle inside this time.

Josef smiles at the Lady's scowling expression towards him, glad things
are as they should be.

Juseppe tactically watches the rest of the crowd to see who is here.

Tillip finds a park bench, and lowers himself onto it. He crosses his
legs and props the viewer on his left. Casually he absorbs the
information he can read there.

Ilzecki walks over to Juhren's side. "Long time no see Squire."

Josef stands to the side of the Lady Ivanova and clasps his arms behind
his back.

Arn quietly pockets the purple flower he has received for young Lady
Helen, and moves aside a bit as to let her get a better view of what is
happening. He still keeps attentively close to her, though.

Ivanova mutters to Josef, ":speaks... her... man,... this that...
this... Semuta... you'll be... to the... I have... for..."

Juhren seems to enjoy looking at the other people as they circulate. He
appears startled when Ilzecki appears beside him. He wobbly turns to
her, "Heyy! Ilzechi! How are you thish fine day?"

You mutter to Marius, "I don't know what it means. I was afraid it might
be poisoned. Iason's warning included suspicions on the Rose Gang being
after Lady Helen."

Fredhrick comes from the City Center.
Fredhrick has arrived.

Fredhrick enters, surrounded by 10 Sardaukar soldiers. Apparent is the
tell-tale shimmer of a shield at its maximum setting surrounding the
Emperor.

Marius mutters to you, "Every rose may have its thorn, but that man is
dangerous. He should be watched."

Josef is about to say something to Lady Ivanova but notices the
Emperor's impressive entrance and immediately dives into a graceful,
deep bow.

Ilzecki smiles and says, "Good."

Juseppe walks near the booths on the sides.

Arn nods quickly to Marius and then sweeps into elegant prostration
before the Majestical Presence.

Tillip glances up and looks around the open market idly. His eyes rest
upon the CHOAM flag, and then he turns back to the viewer. As he does so
he notices the Imperial Person arrive. He blinks once and then resumes
his interest in the filmbook viewer on his lap.

Ilzecki bows gracefully.

The people along the edge of the crowd begin to lower into a deep bow as
signs of the Emperor approaching near.

Yadir comes from the City Center.
Yadir has arrived.

Juseppe bows deeply upon seeing the Emperor using his cane as an aide.

Marius bows deeply to the August Personage of His Majesty.

Helen curtseys deeply to the Imperial presence, along with the rest of
the Atredies party.

Yadir walks in with the Emperor's entourage, she glances about.

Hooded Man lowers into a deep bow towards the approaching group. He
takes a couple of steps back to blend in further with the shadows along
the wall.

Juhren notices belatedly that the Emperor had arrived. He quickly bows
as low as he can with out falling down, and looks somewhat foolish as he
wobbles unsteadly.

Upon seeing the Emperor, Ivanova immediately lowers from her tippy-toed
position and falls into an elegant curtsey with head and eyes proper
lowered. A smile spreas upon her face.

Juhren raises himself from the bow, his face now even redder from the
blood rushing to it. He blinks his eyes several times, as if to clear
his head.

Fredhrick waits for the crowd to fully bow before commanding it to rise.
"Good evening," he says to those closest to him before turning to speak
loudly to the crowd, "We are pleased to see such a large assemblage."

Juhren hiccups quite loudly, and quickly cover's his mouth.

Juseppe gracefully uses his cane to restand up from his deep bow.

Josef rises up and turns to Ivanova to give a slight chuckle and a
wicked smile before turning his full attention to the divine Emperor.

Ivanova remains lowered, dispite the command, until the Emperor makes
his way to the entrance of the Conservatory where she stands. Every
couple of seconds, she glances to her side as if to check on Josef and
what he is doing.

Ilzecki stands up from her graceful bow to the Emperor. "You seem to
have had a little to drink Juhren."

Juseppe returns to his looking about the crowd and surroundings.

Juhren turns towards her, "What? What would giv' you that ideea?" He
grins.

Marius straightens his middle-aged body from the bow with difficulty,
and sends a particularly unpleasant glare Yadir's way.

Helen rises from her curtsey as the rest of the Atreides party does, the
flower among the thorns.

Arn smoothly comes erect in the wake of the soft rustle from Helen's
dress as the young Lady precedes him.

Tillip unhooks his crossed legs to place both feet squarely n the
ground. He presses a button on the filmbook viewer and continues to
regard it sutdiously.

Hooded Man stands up from his bow and takes a step towards Fredhrick.
However, as he draws near a Sardaukar, he hesitates and pulls back
again.

Once he's greeted the crowd, Fredhrick moves towards the conservatory
and stands next to Ivanova. "This is quite a conservatory you've
constructed, Lady RAstanyev."

"Only the best for Your Majesty." Ivanova answers as she finally rises
and smiles. "It need only await for you to announce it officially open
before the people may all enjoy it." With that she takes a step to one
side and extends a hand forward to invite the Emperor.

Josef stands on the side of Ivanova opposite the sublime Emperor.

Ilzecki leans to Juhren and whispers.

Juhren leans closer to Ilzecki, his breath smelling rank,

"Well in that case," he says softly to Ivanova before stepping closer to
her.

Leondal comes from the City Center.
Leondal has arrived.

Iason comes from the City Center.
Iason has arrived.

Juhren glances around, as if looking for someone. When satisfied he's
wasn't there he leaned back to Ilzecki...

Yadir remains within the entourage of the Emperor, blending in as much
as a Reverend Mother can.

Leondal watches intently

Hooded Man fidgits slightly as his eyes land upon the Reverend Mother.
His hooded form seems to shake its head and then slip back again into
the crowd.

Leondal walks towards Juseppe, "I don't believe we've met warmaster"

Ilzecki leans back and has a pluzzed look upon her face.

Juseppe looks back to see Leondal, "Ahhh The our Swordmaster Welcome. I
hope the trip from Liathon was well?"

Juhren grins wickedly, "Betcha didn' know that, did ya'?"

Leondal says, "indeed it was"

Leondal smiles

Iason's cool eyes run through the crowd as he steps in, bowing sharply
to show obesience to the Emperor, his expression hard if bland; a sign
of stongly controlled anger.

Juseppe sort of lokks around Leondal as if trying to see something. "Are
you staying in one of the local hotels? Because We have not formally
seen you within the Embassey?"

Leondal moves aside "Ahhh sorry", "Yes i have been staying at one of the
local hotels"

Juseppe nods, "Good.. Good."

"Well in that case," he says softly to Ivanova before stepping closer to
her. Turning to face the Crowd, Fredhrick offers a broad smile,
"Welcome," he starts, "to the new conservatory, which has been brought
to us all by the magnanimaty of the House Rastanyev."

Juhren seems a little more wobbly now, as if he used all of his strength
in wispering. He grimaces, "I thing I better go now," he puts a hand on
Ilzecki's sholder to steady himself, "I don' feel to good..."

Zhia comes from the City Center.
Zhia has arrived.

Arn shoves a pyon out of the way as he gets too close to the Atreides
party. He makes an effort to clear some more space around them so that
Lady Helen won't have her nose assaulted by the crowd's crude odour.

Ilzecki grabs Juhren's hand, "Would you like some help Juhren?"

Hooded Man lifts his eyes towards the Atreides party and lightly shakes
his head as he watches Arn push another away. His shoulders lift and
then fall.

Juseppe watches the Atreides party.. with quite interest.

Iason's expression hardens as he catches sight of the Rastanyev party,
even as he slips through the crowd towards his own House
representatives.

Juhren shakes his head, "No, you wash the proshedings... I'll get back
fine. Thansh..." He stumbles off toward the City Center.

Josef notices the Rastanyev ambassador out of the corner of his eye and
motions for her to join them.

Juhren passes the Via Pecunia.
Juhren has left.

Ivanova lowers her eyes to the ground and smiles. She beckons lightly,
"Emperor... would you do us the honor by crossing the threshold first?"

Marius watches Lady Rastanyev and the Emperor with keen interest, his
left eyebrow twitching madly.

Zhia comes strolling around the corner, relieved to find have found her
way to the opening. Sweeping into a graceful bow toward the Emperor and
everyone else around. Catching sight of the Rastanyev party, Zhia
quickly moves over to join them.

Leondal nods

Fredhrick gives a flourished bow towards Ivanova, "We would be honored,
Lady Rastanyev." Before taking that first step though he amkes a final
statement to the crowd, "It is with the greatest pleasure that we
declare the Kitain Conservatory open to the Public."

Arn makes polite applause to the Emperor.

Marius applauds in measured, mechanical style.

Nerina comes from the City Center.
Nerina has arrived.

Juseppe whispers to Leondal.

Helen applauds as delicately as she does everything.

Fredhrick walks to the north and passes through the door.
Fredhrick has left.

Ivanova lifts her hands together for an applause.

Nerina stands off to the distance.

Ivanova walks to the north and passes through the door.
Ivanova has left.

Josef motions for the Rastanyev Ambassador Zhia to make entrance before
him.

Hooded Man lingers behind, waiting for his turn to enter the new
Conservatory.

Helen enters along with the rest of the Atreides part.

Juseppe watches the hooded man. And follows him slowely.

Iason's eyes scan the crowd, before he nods to Helen and Arn, now that
the Mentat- is in.

Arn follows behind as the Atreides progresses toward the entrance,
keeping the populace at bay.

Leondal follows behind at a distance

Helen walks to the north and passes through the Brick Archway.
Helen has left.

You walk through the Brick Archway.

Courtyard - Imperial Conservatory (Kaitain)(#1899RntJ)
The courtyard is designed in a simplistic square shape. An enormous
marble wall surrounds the courtyard, giving it privacy from the traffic
beyond. There is a cobblestone path cutting out a cross shape in the
ground. In the middle of the cross path sits a large statue, smaller
statues rest at the four corners. Rose bushes adorn the sides of the
path giving the four ends an isolation from each other. The statues are
fashioned in a Greco-Roman style, very life like. Around the center
statue are four benches placed at each path branching off from the
middle.

Iason walks in from Circle of Fortune through the Brick Archway.
Iason has arrived.

Once inside the conservatory, Fredhrick moves to the closest Rose bush
and inhales the musky scent they give off. "The flowers are exceptional,
Ivanova."

Ivanova follows the Emperor's steps closely. She smiles at his
compliment and then waves her hand forward, "Ah... but wait till you
come into the Conservatory Proper. We had some... gifts from House
Bajazet just added this morning."

"Indeed?" Fredhrick replies with the quirk of an eyebrow. "We are most
intrigued, considering the give the Baron gave us on our Birthday has
become the most magnificent animal in Our stable. The Siridar outdoes
himself, it seems."

Marius mutters to you, "House Rastanyev certainly Rose to this
occasion."

Iason mutters to Marius, "... they... watch... lest they be...
oversoon."

"The... Bajazets are good at that Your Majesty." Ivanova lightly bows
her head forward, "... even though we don't always see eye to eye."

You mutter to Marius, "It would seem so, brother. I wonder if there's
more to this than meets the eye?"

Marius mutters to you, "Perhaps Bajazet gave the Rastanyev a horse to
manure this garden with."

Fredhrick says, "Then we look forward to seeing the Atrium with held
breath."

Hooded Man again lingers in the back of the crowd. His eyes continually
watch the movement of the Emperor.

Ivanova lets out a light chuckle, "Hopefully not too tightly Your
Majesty.... hopefully not held too tightly." She voice wavers slightly
towards the end into a slightly nervous chuckle as she refolds her arms
across her chest.

You mutter to Marius, "They are either all idiots to play such foolish
games with symbols, or wiser than we think."

Marius mutters to you, "The emperor need not hold his breath for the
manure, if he enjoys the smell of these roses."

You mutter to Marius, "It is not the manure he tries not to smell, it's
the Rastanyev."

Mintor walks in from Circle of Fortune through the Brick Archway.
Mintor has arrived.

Iason mutters to Marius, "It..."

Fredhrick smiles to Ivanova and starts for the inner room, "This is

Atrium - Imperial Conservatory (Kaitain)
The room is shaped as a long octagon with the corners cut off by small
ponds of water. Within the ponds there is an elaborate series of
fountains from which water leaps arching from pond to pond, yet never
crossing the center of the room.

A small brook weaves its way along the outskirts of the room connecting
one pond to another leaving a small railed bridge to allow entrance. A
network of pipes laced within the walls lets off a light but constant
mist which slowly descends, cooling the occupants.

A granite path carves its way toward the center of the room with lillies
and irises strewn along the slithering figure. The pleasant chirping of
exotic birds can be heard over head while descending the walkway. The
path opens into an alabaster pillar upon which an orator preaches,
revolving in the center. Obsidain pews surround the pillar on eight
sides.

Stretching above the scenes of nature stands a gigantic domed cathedral
ceiling. The incongruities of which stand out against the free flowing
water below proves that mans creations is not a natural part of nature.
Players:
 Arn Josef

Crystal Archway <S> leads to Courtyard - Imperial Conservatory
(Kaitain)

Nerina smiles.

Mintor bows to the Emperor.

Ivanova nods her head, "Indeed... well... actually that of his sister,
the na-Baroness." Ivnoava continues to smile, "A most pleasant lady."

Mintor approaches the edge of the brook.

Marius mutters to you, "Bajazet, a pillar of the imperium. I wonder if
they have more at stake here than upholding the firmament?"

Mintor grins to the Atreides mentat.

You mutter to Marius, "I have the highest regard for the noble Siridar
Baron. I think him the epitome of chivalry. He is probably only overly
courteous, Marius."

Helkan walks in from Courtyard - Imperial Conservatory through the
Crystal Archway.
Helkan has arrived.

Fredhrick nods. "I've not yet had a chance to speak with the na-Baroness
yes. Apparently I am missing something."

Helen nods to Mintor, and gives Marius a smile... She and the na-Duke
wander the paths together.

Marius approaches the edge of the brook.

Helkan enters the room, and slides gracefully in the back of the group.
He looks around slowly, assessing who is there.

Nerina stares at a rather boring looking bush.

Hooded Man slowly approaches the Emperor, standing as close as those
about will allow him. He bows his head and holds his hands folded
together into his sleeves, "Will the Emperor have a world with one of
his humble servants in... private?" A low, calm voice whispers.

Helen approaches the edge of the brook.

Helkan moves slowly around, never staying close to one group for
long.....

You approach the edge of the brook.

Near the brook, Marius tugs gently on Mintor's arm and nods toward the
emperor and the hooded man.

Near the brook, you say, "Observe that pyon accosting the Emperor!"

Near the brook, Mintor says, "I have seen that hooded figure before in
the cathedral. Do you know anything of him?"

Near the brook, Arn shakes his head.

Iason's body shifts from its angry poise to one of loose-limbed
readiness as he turns to observe the scene.

Helkan notices Arn, and nods in his direction, a slight smile on his
face.

Josef looks towards the Hooded Man and takes a note of the odd scene.

Near the brook, Marius says, "My lord, the opportunities here for
mischief are great."

Ilzecki steps onto the bridge.

Near the brook, Mintor nods. "Let's be sure we are attentive in
shielding Helen." He raises an eyebrow to Arn, softening it with a
quirky grin.

Fredhrick pivots on one heel to regard the hooded man intently. "We are
always willing to speak with those who serve." Signalling for his guards
to follow, the Emperor starts moving towards a far corner of the room.
Guards, apparently, are not people, so their presence is justified in a
'private' encounter.
Mintor whispers, "Practivce makes perfect."

Near the brook, Arn turns his back to the Atreides by the brook, facing
the whole room and easing his arms a little as he straightens and
prepares for possible trouble.

Hooded Man looks nervously towards the guards, but slowly nods his head
in agreement and moves off to follow the Emperor.

Hooded Man moves towards one of the ponds.

Near the brook, Marius says, "What in damnation is his Majesty doing?"

Nerina watches the Emperor move away and then resumes staring at the
bush.

Fredhrick moves towards one of the ponds.

Near the brook, Marius pales slightly, as he murmurs, "Forgive my
outburst."

Near the brook, Mintor says, "He apparently is willing to consult with
the smelly friar."

Near the brook, Arn shakes his head, but not in criticism to Marius,
rather to His Majesty.

Ivanova frowns slightly at the departure of the Emperor. She eyes the
hooded man carefully before turning and making her own way about the
gardens.

Helkan gazes with interest at the Hooded man and the Emperor, stopping
in his movements for a moment.

Ivanova begins to walk down the path.

Fredhrick steps to the same Pond as the mysterious 'servant' flanked by
his guards. Years of training cause the Emperor's hand to reactively
drop to his shield controls in case the Hooded one intends harm.

Satel walks in from Courtyard - Imperial Conservatory through the
Crystal Archway.
Satel has arrived.

Near the brook, Mintor says, "The Emperor's guards know their business.
Tell me what happened before I arrived?"

Near the brook, Marius says, "Not much, my lord. Except Juseppe of the
Venhei offered my lady Helen a rose."

Helkan appears ill at ease, as he is the only Moritani here.

Near the brook, Mintor stiffens slightly at that. "A rose you say? Any
particular rose?"

Satel slips into the room, his dour gaze tracing the flight of nearby
water with a touch of cynicism before submitting to being eyed by
friendly guards flanking the entrance.

Zhia gestures toward the bridge at Josef.

Near the brook, Arn says, "A purple one. I pocketed it quickly, of
course, before My Lady could touch it. I feared it might be poisoned.
Iason has warned us of that symbol."

Near the brook, Marius says, "Purple, I believe. A color associated with
disease, rolyalty, poison, blood, and the diseases of royalty."

Mintor meets Satel's eye across the room. He nods slightly and smiles.

Helkan glances at the tall man who just entered, seemingly impressed by
him.

Nerina quits staring at the bush and looks at the ceiling.

Iason's gaze just roams the room, very quiet, his attention split
between the heirs of his House and the Emperor and his scruffy
acquaintance.

Satel looks a shade on the impolite side of tolorant before he's
motioned into the event and more or less dismissed. A sweep nearly
misses the nod and smile, which he returns with baleful and neutral
intensity, before strolling. The room seems suited for it.

Josef looks towards Zhia.

Helkan looks over at Nerina, and begins to move towards her.

Zhia begins to walk down the path.

Mintor looks to Iason briefly.

Arn lets his eyes sweep lazily over the gathered visitors, straying his
gaze towards the path. He watches the figures strolling there for a
while, not seeming all too merry, and then continues to keep watch over
those behind him at the brook.

Helkan nods to Nerina, and smiles, "You seem a bit bored?"

Near the brook, Mintor turns to Helen. "How fares the best of nieces?"

Nerina smiles at Helkan, "Somewhat."

Josef begins to walk down the path.

Helkan nods, "I find, when I am bored, all I need is someone to talk to.
Shall I be the one to talk to?"

Near the brook, Helen says, "I am well, Uncle... though better now that
you are here..."

Near the brook, Marius says, "Does the Rastanyev dare to lead the
Imperium down the garden path?"

Satel must not eat well, or scans social events for mentions of light
food and shows up for that purpose. He delicately seeks, as usual, food
as well as guests; casual studies of the various people are frankly
overt as well as stealthy. He pauses at one side of the bridge and lets
out a silent breath.

Leondal has disconnected.

Nerina says, ""Ah, yes. But I cannot talk for long. I'm due back to the
labs in a short time.""

Near the brook, Arn chuckles softly and remarks to himself, "Mentat,
your words are your vilest poison."

Helkan grins, and nods in assent, "Ahh, I see. You are a doctor then?"

Near the brook, Marius says, "No antidote yet exists for the truth,
sirrah."

Nerina nods. "Yes, Imperial physician. Quite a job, that."

The guards watching the conversation between Fredhrick and the hooded
man move closer to the Emperor, one of them cautiously placing a hand on
his duelling dagger.

Linn walks in from Courtyard - Imperial Conservatory through the Crystal
Archway.
Linn has arrived.

Near the brook, Mintor laughs softly at Marius' joke before replying to
Helen "A remarkable coincidence, for I too am better not that I am here.
It is actually quite a lovely setting, here in the heart of the city. I
am tempted to take off my boots and wade."

Near the brook, Arn says, "The wisest words I have heard today. Truth
cuts through body and soul."

Helkan nods, keeping his attention on her, although always aware of
other goings on in the room. "Yes, you must see many different types of
patients."

Near the brook, Marius says, "The irrigation system would be the perfect
way to poison all those here present, sirrah. And who to assign blame to
the Rastanyev?"

Nerina sighs. "A great many more than I should see sometimes."

Near the brook, Mintor chuckles to Arn "But the shield of firmly held
opinion can be quite impervious to truth."

Ivanova stops her stroll on the path and begins to talk into her
communicator.

Helkan frowns, "How so?"

Ilzecki steps off of the bridge.

Ilzecki begins to walk down the path.

Nerina waves her hand. "Just duellers with no common sense."

At some statement made by the Hooded Man, the senior of Fredhrick's two
guards pulls out a communicator and makes a quick call.

Near the brook, Arn says, "Truth does not move with the speed of a
pistol dart, Lord. It slowly and unobtrusively creeps upon you, easily
deflecting every shield."

Siegfried walks in from Courtyard - Imperial Conservatory through the
Crystal Archway.
Siegfried has arrived.

Satel glances at movement, and watches Ilzecki thoughtfully, more any
indication of who she is than anything else. He offers a tight smile and
an inclination of his head, just slightly.

Nerina nod to Helkan, "I must go now but it's been a pleasure speaking
with you."

Near the brook, Mintor chuckles yet again "I recommend to you a serious
conversation with Cardinal Janus. I expect he will prove impregnible."

Helkan looks around as there begins to be movement, "Perhaps we could
talk again." He bows.

Iason's attention moves to the guards and the Emperor at the sudden
motion.

Nerina curtseys. "Perhaps."

Near the brook, Arn says, "His Eminence sure seems to be overly full of
something, but if it is truth or something else coming out his mouth I
am not the man to judge."

Siegfried scratch his dog's ear.

Near the brook, Marius says, "Judgment is the province of God, his
Emperor, and the fist which holds the knife."

Nerina looks with concern to the Emperor, then to her timepiece and
moves towards the exit.

Nerina walks to the south and passes through the Crystal Archway.
Nerina has left.

Helkan moves towards the brook, looking around him at the newcomers.

Hooded Man can be seen backing away from his position near the Emperor.

Arn puts himself in the way of Helkan to hinder him from approaching the
Atreides at the brook.

Siegfried smiles at linn, just for a moment.

Zhia has disconnected.

Helkan slows to a stop, several feet from the brook, and turns to look
at the Emperor and the Hooded Man

Siegfried grin.

Mintor whispers, "Do you know him? Helkan?"

Hooded Man walks to the south and passes through the Crystal Archway.
Hooded Man has left.

Satel, his politeness to Ilezecki over and done with, narrows his eyes
on the activity of the guards. He crosses his arms and leans lightly
against a low post for a few minutes.

You whisper, "No. Some lowly Moritani servant. I think he should better
stay where he is. A shabby lion's cub like him can only sour our mood,
Lord." to Mintor.

Helkan seems puzzled by the appearance of Linn, and watches her closely.

Fredhrick moves away from the pond.

Satel begins to walk down the path.

Near the brook, Helen listens quietly, thoughtfully.

You whisper, "Just look at him eyeing the Suk Nerina, and now that maid
over there! Think how he would insult My Lady with his mere presence."
to Mintor.

Siegfried finally decides to walk toward the na-Duke Mintor.

Nestor walks in from Courtyard - Imperial Conservatory through the
Crystal Archway.
Nestor has arrived.

Linn lowers her eyes and walks to a shadowed corner of the room.

Once the hooded man leaves, Fredhrick leaves the cofines of the pond,
his two guards following him at a close distance. "Forgive us," he says
to those still assembled, "We have spent too little time with Our
friends who have come here tonight."

Arn steps aside, bowing, as Siegfried passes him on the way to na-Duke
Mintor and company by the brook.

Nestor walks into the area, followed closely by two guards dressed
similarly to himself in black with silver trim. His hands are clasped
together lightly in front of him as he surveys the crowd.

Siegfried approaches the edge of the brook.

Ilzecki departs from the path.

Siegfried salute Arn in a military fashion.

Mintor smiles to the Ginaz lord."Siegfried, is it not?"

Ilzecki walks over to Nestor's side. Ilzecki bows to Master Nestor,
"Nice you see you here Master."

Ivanova nods lightly towards the departing Ilzecki and then turns to
leave herself. She pauses near the doorway for one final look about the
room and all the people gathered there.

Siegfried says, "Yes, it is Milord."

Near the brook, Arn comes to attention at Siegfried's salute. He
performs a hesitating salute in return, showing that he is really no
military man.

Josef has disconnected.

Siegfried says, "i'm happy to see you."

Smooth as silk, Helkan slids up beside Arn, just as he finishes bowing,
and slids him a note.

Marius peers at Siegfried with interest.

Helen nods shyly to Siegfried as he approaches her uncle and herself.

Near the brook, Mintor says, "It is my pleasure. Have you met my niece,
the Lady Helen.""

Arn accepts Helkan's note with two fingers, looking at it and the man
who delivered it questioningly.

Nestor raises an eyebrow slightly at the Harkonnen guard as he passes
her, not breaking a stride as he gestures for her to take her place
beside him as hge walks. "And to you, Guardsman Ilzecki."

Iason nods to Siegfried, his eyes roaming the room.

Siegfried says, "you might not know of me, but i'm the son of Lady Caia
Aleusis..."

Helkan nods to Arn, and turns to leave.

Siegfried says, "one of your kin."

Ivanova walks to the south and passes through the Crystal Archway.
Ivanova has left.

Siegfried smiles broadly at Helen for a brief moment.

Helkan walks to the south and passes through the Crystal Archway.
Helkan has left.

Ilzecki takes her position next to Nestor, "Good Master."

Near the brook, Mintor says, "Then be welcome cousin, to our little
corner of the universe."

Siegfried says, "and a fine little corner you have here, na-Duke, a fine
one..."

Siegfried scratch his dog ear and look at the scene.

Marius glances about the garden in boredom and spies his Harkonnen
counterpart, Nestor. He smiles and detaches himself from the Atreides
for the moment, as he attempts to reach nestor

Marius walks to the south and passes through the Crystal Archway.
Marius has left.

Marius walks in from Courtyard - Imperial Conservatory through the
Crystal Archway.
Marius has arrived.

Helen blushes prettily, and shyly returns Siegfried's smile.

Marius moves smoothly through the crowd, coming closer to Nestor.

Nestor pauses for a moment to survey the crowd, scanning the area
slowly.

Satel bounces his eyebrows, reaches down to pluck an ornamental leaf
from nearby ground cover, and spends a moment attaching it to his tunic.
Satisfied at it's artistic droop, he straightens and wanders again along
the brook's path.

Satel departs from the path.

Fredhrick looks around the Atrium to the large assemblage at the Brook.
Deciding to mingle, he himself starts walking that way.

Near the brook, Mintor says, "Is there any word on the Marquis? I fear
for his health and think of him often."

Near the brook, Mintor says, "we are about to be blessed."

Marius weaves his way to Nestor's side and stops. He clears his throat,
and says, "Good day, sirrah."

Satel approaches the edge of the brook.

Siegfried says, "well...i talk to my Uncle sooner today...he seemed fine
to me. Always as full of wits as ever..."

Near the brook, Arn immediately closes in on Satel. "You have business
here, sir?"

Near the brook, Mintor straightens his uniform and comes almost to
attention.

Nestor turns to face Marius as he approaches. With a slight bow, he
says, "Greetings."

Ilzecki bows to Marius

Near the brook, Mintor places a restraining hand on Arn's shoulder. "A
M. Satel. So good to see you again."

Near the brook, Satel pauses at Arn's rabid friendliness and answers,
low, "Always." He regards Arn with blunt curiosity.

Linn slowly makes her way toward the Brook, keeping her eyes on the
ground.

Fredhrick approaches the edge of the brook.

Marius nods politely to Ilzecki, and grins. "It is a distinct pleasure
to meet you, Nestor. My name is Quintin Marius. I have heard much about
you..."

Mintor bows deeply to the Emperor. "Your Majesty."

Near the brook, Arn acts the marble statue as Mintor touches him, then
breaks into something that could be called a smile by some, and a rift
in his face by others. "By all means, be welcome then, sir."

Siegfried stand up slowly to salute the emperor if he is to come in his
direction.

Siegfried says, "your Majesty."

Ilzecki shifts here weight from foot to foot, until she finds a
comfortable stance.

Near the brook, Satel gives Arn the sort of smile one gives a dog that
has successfully 'sat' on command, and inclines his head wordlessly to
Mintor. As the Emperor has approached, it seems, Satel contents himself
to stand where he is.

Near the brook, Arn has no time to waste on Satel but turns around from
one new arrival to the other, vigorously transforming the movement into
a bow to the Emperor.

Nestor nods with a slight smile. "And I you, Master Marius. It is
certainly high time that we meet face to face, rather than simply
examining each others' tactics on filmbook." He takes a long moment to
look the man over. "You looked shorter in the book."

Marius says, "I am pleased to disappoint your expectations, although I
fear that my book was of much less use to you than yours to me. I felt
as if a new avenue of thought was made available to me through your
work."

Near the brook, Helen curtsies deeply to the Emperor as he arrives,
standing beside and a bit behind her uncle the na-Duke.

Ilzecki looks about the room, to only refocus upon Marius.

Near the brook, Mintor smiles to the Emperor, awaiting his pleasure.

Near the brook, Fredhrick nods as you all bow, "You may Rise."

Siegfried seems a bit nervous about seeing the Emperor for the first
time...

Siegfried rise.

Nestor bows again. "And your plans built on mine yielded more to myself
than any book could. It is a mutual compliment, to be sure."

Helen rises from her curtsey when the Emperor gives permission, her eyes
shyly lowered.

Satel looked at you.

Siegfried sweating a bit and becomes pale...

Near the brook, Mintor gently eases Helen a bit more to the central
position. His pride in his niece is apparent when he says "Your Majesty,
may I have the honor of presenting to You the Lady Helen Atreides, my
brother's daughter."

Siegfried get an hold on himself and calm down a bit

Yadir walks in from Courtyard - Imperial Conservatory through the
Crystal Archway.
Yadir has arrived.

Marius gently places his hand on Nestor's shoulder, and says pointedly,
"Your work on the aerial distribution of musky is certainly pertinent in
light of our current surroundings, Master Nestor. Don't you agree?"

Ilzecki follows every movement made by Marius.

Near the brook, Helen murmurs, "It is an honor to meet your Imperial
Majesty."

Near the brook, Arn slowly straightens after everybody else have already
done so. He relaxes his vigil now that the brook is cramped by Sardaukar
and moves a few careful steps closer to the Lady Helen.

Nestor takes a brief moment to look at the hand on his shoulder, then
back to Marius. "In light of our current surroundings," he says, his
eyes making a gesture of their own in the direction of the Emperor,
"such a tactic is nigh useless. Pray tell, how do the Hawks treat their
Mentats?" He looks back at Ilzecki and his other two guards. "You are
dismissed."

Yadir enters the Conservatory Atrium and takes a momment to orientate
herself, she moves further into the room admiring the surroundings.

Near the brook, Satel straightens from a token, though sincere, bow, and
stands, backgrounding himself like a five sol nature painting.

Ilzecki says, "Good night Master. It was nice to meet you Marius."

Ilzecki walks to the south and passes through the Crystal Archway.
Ilzecki has left.

Near the brook, Fredhrick looks over towards Helen, a broad smile upon
his face, "The pleasure of meeting what must surely be the most
beautiful of the Atreides line is all Ours," he says to Mintor's niece.

Near the brook, Helen blushes prettily at that, her eyes lowering shyly.

Siegfried stand still

Near the brook, Mintor gives Helen a surreptitious wink and contains his
pride reasonably well.

Marius removes his hand from Nestor's shoulder, and replies, "I fear
that most of my work is trapped in the realm of economics. But until
recently, I was teaching at the Imperial School on Caladan, where I came
into contact with an amazing mind in one of my students. But my teaching
days are gone now. I fear the excitement of teachign the art of Kanly is
the closest that my lord Duke will ever allow me to come to the
actuality. And you? Does the Harkonnen realize your value?

Yadir begins to walk down the path.

Near the brook, Mintor says, "I fear, Majesty, that we have preempted
the most beautiful spot in this garden. It has however enabled us to
tempt You into our company."

Nestor nods with a slight smile. "They allow me...my indulgences. My
Lord Baron knows that a Mentats ability to exercise creativity is a
strength and does little to hinder it."

Near the brook, Arn watches the Sardaukar from under his brow, trying to
study their powerful presence and the minutiae of their movements. He
unconsciously mimics one of them as the other tugs at his uniform jacket
a little.

Siegfried 's dog sit at his feet

Marius nods. "It is a wonderful thing, to be appreciated for your full
value." He pauses, lost in thought for a moment, then continues, "Tell
me, have you ever thought of teaching at an Imperial school?"

Near the brook, Fredhrick says, "Indeed, Cousin. But you needn't have
confiscated the most beautiful spot for that. I find your company to be
of the enjoyable sort, thusly not needing enticement."

Siegfried smiles at these words.

Nestor shakes his head. "Never. My place is with my Baron...and like the
Bene Gesserit," he says, a mischevious smile whisping over his lips for
a moment, "I live only to serve."

Linn keeps her eyes on the floor and makes her way toward the Emperor.

Linn approaches the edge of the brook.

Along the path, Yadir takes her time walking along the path

Marius laughs with unrestrained glee. "I had occasion to use those very
words to the na-Duke Mintor. I must admit to a dislike of the Bene
Gesserit, only to the extent that they dislike me. Do you still find
occasion to practice the simple art of the knife, Master Nestor?"

Near the brook, Mintor's grin escapes again "Your Majesty, is too kind."
He pauses then says quietly "I did most enjoy our conversation the other
evening."

Near the brook, Linn says, "My Emperor..."

Nestor licks his lips, the forefingers of his clasped hands tapping
against one another. "Often enough, yes. That is one of the indulgences
that My Lord Baron allows me."

Mintor looks, slightly surprised, to the young girl who has appeared
here.

Near the brook, Linn says, "Emperor I have been sent to deliver a
message, forces in the Landsraad plan your assasination at this moment."

Near the brook, Arn pops his button-like eyes to Linn, apparently not
believeing what he is seeing. He can't hold back a low moan, saying,
"Not another one!"

Near the brook, Helen quietly folds her hands before her, standing
silently as her uncle talks with the Emperor, her eyes shyly lowered.

Nestor says, "And yourself, Master Marius?"

Linn lowers her eyes quickly.

Near the brook, Mintor's eyes widen, stunned by the assertion.

Siegfried take a defensive stance, ready to anything...

Marius says, "Perhaps, with the indulgence of our various masters, we
might engage in a short tutorial? I fear that my skills may be dulled by
the Lyceum's academic rigor."

Near the brook, Fredhrick says, "As did I, Minotauros." Turning towards
Helen he adds, "But we are monopolizing the conversation. Your dear
niece hasn't been able to say a word since Our introduction." One of his
Sardaukar guards steps up, blocking Linn from coming any closer while at
the same time Alerting Fredhrick to her presence. The Emperor slowly
turns around, letting his eyes fall apraisingly on the woman who's
requested his attention. "Yes?""

Near the brook, Satel dispassionately consults a tree limb, his mouth
twitching.

Along the path, Yadir continues making her circuit about the atrium of
the conservitory following the path, orbiting the activities of the
Emperor.

Nestor takes his turn to laugh. "My first-approximation analysis tells
me to doubt those words, Master Marius. It has been said that it is only
through teaching a thing that supreme mastery of that thing can be
attained."

Near the brook, Linn says, "A man with red stained lips has ordered me
to deliver this message. I must go..."

Near the brook, Helen raises her eyes in alarm at Linn's words and
rumors of assassination, staying close to her uncle, and watching the
Emperor and his guards.

Near the brook, Fredhrick raises one eyebrow, "A mentat? Indeed. Tell us
this message."

Siegfried is ready to react, all his sense are in alert.

Near the brook, Linn says, "My Emperor, the man said that you will die
of poison in your drink, that is all he told me..."

Marius chuckles, and sighs. "But I ask you, Master Nestor, are we tools
that have passed their prime? Already peace seems at hand, and the art
of kanly is but a twinkle in the eye of ambitious Houses Minor.
Meanwhile, our arts lie rusting while we undertake economic and social
analyses for our lords; a most uncomely melancholia fills me. It must be
the pernicious influences of ar-Khazar's Meditations."

Near the brook, Arn again takes a half-step forward to be able to offer
his meagre body as a living shield for the young Lady Atreides should
she need it, dog-instincts aroused.

Near the brook, Fredhrick says, "Chaumurky?" Fredhrick ponders this for
a moment. "I do not remember being involved in either a Kanly or a War
of Assassins." The Emperor focuses his gaze on the woman with the
warnings of poison, "If you see this man again, tell him that he is
welcome to try all he likes. If he can slip the poison past all my
safeguards then he is a better man than I."

Nestor chuckles slightly. "Peace is a relative term, Master Marius...as
is turmoil. I am quite confident that we tools will always find a thing
to fix. And rust only occurs in cases of ill-maintenance...even in the
deepest jungles of peace." He smiles lightly. "But you have yet to tell
me of the Hawks' use of you...do they see what a fine tool they
possess?"

Near the brook, Linn says, "My Emperor, he said that he would be here
himself to deliver the message if I failed..."

You mutter to Mintor, "Shall I make her fail, Lord, to lure forth that
dastardly assassin?"

Near the brook, Helen smiles just a little at the Emperor's words, alarm
fading from her eyes.

Linn look around the vast room.

Near the brook, Mintor glances at the Emperor, as if seeing him in a new
light. His posture relaxes slightly though concern remains apparent in
his face.

Siegfried still in combat mode, ready to react at any suspect move.

Near the brook, Linn says, "May I take my leave Emperor?"

Near the brook, Fredhrick narrows his eys at that, beginning to look
around those persons gathered near even as his guards step closer to him
in a protective measure while communicating this news to their
superiors. "Tell us, my dear lady, was it perhaps that man there who
gave you this message?" He points to the Nestor.

Satel mutters to himself, "... interroga..."

Marius says, "I see in speech, as in your writing, you hold your point
tenaciously, Master Nestor. The Atreides use me much as I was meant to
be used; I am applied to problem's like Occam's Razor, cutting away
unnecessary detail to reveal the kernel which agitates the oyster, from
which I create the purest pearl of a solution."

Near the brook, Linn says, "I am not sure My Emperor, I was very
frightened, it could have been."

Near the brook, Arn not so subtly tries to catch Mintor's eye.

Near the brook, Satel murmurs to himself, watching the brook's dancing a
moment before returning his gaze to the Emperor, blandly.

Mintor whispers, "What?"

You whisper, "Do you want me to make her 'fail,' to draw forth the
villain that sent her?" to Mintor.

Nestor nods approvingly. "Well put. The simplest solution is not only
oftentimes best but cost-effective," he states, allowing himself another
slight smile. "Your stint of teaching has certainly not dulled the
finely honed blade which you are. Your reputation does not do you
justice."

Mintor whispers, "This is too dangerous a game for us to meddle in. The
Emperor is our master. We will dance to his tune."

Yadir has disconnected.

Near the brook, Fredhrick frowns ever-so-slightly at that. 'Could have
been' is not really sufficient evidance to harrass or detain the
Harkonnen Mentat in public. "Thank you for the message. We are most
appreciative of the warning you have provided and will take the
appropriate precautions."

Marius smiles self-deprecatingly. "Nor yours you. Yet even the best
knife can be dulled when held too closely to the grindstone."

Linn walks away from the brook.

Siegfried 's emits a little "yip"

Nestor counters, "Which is why we knives have chosen our grindstones so
carefully. You with the Atreides and I with the Harkonnens. I believe
that they match us well."

Near the brook, Fredhrick turns to one of his two guards, "See that she
is followed. And Master Nestor as well. Inform the Baron Harkonnen that
I will wish to speak with him at my earliest convenience."

Near the brook, Mintor stands quietly his eyes a bit wider than is
usually his wont. "These are odd times, Majesty. And difficult ones. We
are at Your service."

Siegfried says, "I am."

Near the brook, Helen curtsies to emphasize her Uncle's words, though
she keeps silent.

Marius says, "Indeed. In my experience, it is the knife which is used
rarely but to great effect, rather than the one used for careless
bloodletting, which inspires greater respect."

Near the brook, Arn looks around a little bewildered at all yays. "Me
too," he adds hesitatingly and in a low voice.

Near the brook, Satel has, at least, a sympathetic air to him. As much
as a bystander can have, that is.

Near the brook, Fredhrick says, "Indeed. You shall have to forgive me,
but I feel it's come time I should retire. I'm sure that you
understand." Turning to face Helen he gives a cavalier bow, "We should
like to speak with you when next we meet. Please say that you shall
grant us that honour.""

Near the brook, Mintor nods and bows deeply, his face solemn.

Siegfried bows before the emperor.

Nestor nods. "Certainly. Which is why all bloodletting must be made to
great effect. The Harkonnens are masters of this, as you well
know...making each act of brutality a purposful act. And the Atreides
use a single act but make the echo of it carry through for many things."
He shrugs. "Both tactics have their advantages."

Siegfried says, "hope you'll allow me to present myself next time we
will meet, your Majesty."

Near the brook, Helen murmurs, "It would be my pleasure and delight, My
emperor..." She glances up at his Imperial Majesty, shyly meeting his
eyes.

Fredhrick nods to Seigfried and Helen as he steps away from the brook
and begins moving towards the door. His guards move at his heel,
flanking him closely to protect from would-be attackers.

Marius grins. "I confess that I prefer to deal in quality, rather than
quantity, especially with House Atreides... troubles. It is much easier
to plant a severed head in a noble's bed, than to poison an entire
dinner party. But in the end, it is truly a question of style."

Near the brook, Arn hastens to bow as the Emperor leaves.

Siegfried relax a lot and stand down after the departure of the emperor.

Siegfried says, "For my first night in Kaitain, it seems i'm favored by
God. An assassination right under my nose..."

Linn walks to the south and passes through the Crystal Archway.
Linn has left.

Near the brook, Satel focuses on Siegfrief intensely a moment, before
breaking into a somewhat disturbingly tranquil smile. He flicks absently
at the drooping leaf poised on ihs tunic.

Nestor grins in return. "Quite. Your insights are quite enlightening,
Master Marius."

Near the brook, Mintor sighs and gives Helen's hand a gentle squeeze
"Welcome to Kaitain, both of you."

Fredhrick walks away from the brook.

Siegfried says, "Now if you excuse me..."

Siegfried says, "Lady Helen..."

Near the brook, Mintor nods "Certainly, cousin. I shall look forward to
seeing you again soon."

Siegfried bows to kiss Helen hand, or at least simply bows before
here...

Marius shakes his head ruefully, and says, "My age, I feel, permits me
to often speak bluntly at inappropriate times."

Siegfried salute Mintor

Helen murmurs, "Of course, Cousin... it was a pleasure to meet you."

Siegfried kiss her hand.

Siegfried says, "Say you soon cousins."

Siegfried walks to the south and passes through the Crystal Archway.
Siegfried has left.

Near the brook, Mintor smiles at the gallantry offered his niece.

Near the brook, Arn lets out a contended little sigh as the Sardaukar
huff away. Kicking a bit at the shingle he tries to find anything
remotely interesting to cling his gaze to. As it happens he catches
sight of the wet leaf adorning Satel's front. Eyebrows meet in agile
disapprovement. He sniffs and turns his head another way.

Nestor looks around the room, sighing slightly, before looking back to
Marius. "Your words are certainly not inappropriate, Master Marius. Then
again, perhaps I am inured to such."

Marius winks wickedly at Nestor, and says, "After all, it's all data,
isn't it?"

Near the brook, Mintor looks Helen in the eye, and with gentle mockery
says. "I confess that life with you is an adventure. If you had not
spent those years inthe convent, I am not sure we should have survived."
His grin slips out again setting his eyes a dancing.

Nestor nods quite seriously. "True. And even false data is useful data."
He looks around the room again. "I certainly hope to speak with you at
length in the near future...but I fear that I must return to the
Embassy. My work piles up as I speak...and I have made the appropriate
appearance for the House Harkonnen."

Near the brook, Helen blushes, lowering her eyes, even as she laughs.
"Thank you Uncle... I think."

Marius nods elegantly. "But of course, Master Nestor. I look forward to
speaking with you again in the near future."

Near the brook, Mintor turns to Satel "M. Satel, you have had a rare
opportunity for theat observations which seems your passion."

Nestor bows slightly before taking a deferential step back and turning,
making his way toward the crystal archway. And it is only as he reaches
the exit that he partially removes his coat to examine the place where
Marius touched him.

Nestor walks to the south and passes through the Crystal Archway.
Nestor has left.

Near the brook, Mintor turns to Satel "M. Satel, you have had a rare
opportunity for the observations which seem your passion.

Near the brook, Satel comes to life as if by triggered word, replying
easily, "Many are served to you, you seem a natural magnet for them." He
focuses his gaze on Mintor, steadily. "So you -were- listening,
mi'Lord."

Near the brook, Mintor chuckles "Sir, you will find that I am only
almost as stupid as I look."

Near the brook, Helen says, ""Uncle!"

Near the brook, Helen tries hard not to laugh.

Near the brook, Arn says, "If my humble opinion is of any marginal worth
I should think My Lord na-Duke deserves our every ounce of effort to
service him. He is the exemplary gentleman, a most ferocious swordsman
and," Arn says, letting out a calculated cough before continuing, "an
impeccable dresser."

Marius approaches the edge of the brook.

Near the brook, Satel glances to Helen, a feral grin on his face. "Some
may believe that, to set themselves at ease." As Arn speaks, he pauses
as if Arn had cracked a bad joke.

Near the brook, Mintor grins at Helen. He takes her two hands in his and
spins her about. Then he glances back to Satel with a grin. "Do not
underestimate, Arn, sir. He hides his jokes better than most."

Near the brook, Satel replies somewhat dryly, "I will try not to." He
gives Arn a nod, which seems to mean anything from 'not bad, kid' to
'you exist'.

Near the brook, Arn bows and smiles.

Near the brook, Marius says, "The hand that holds the knife is the one
that can be dismissed, for it is occupied. But the other hand must be
watched for chaumurky..."

Near the brook, Satel glances to the newcomer, adding, "...and never
count on just two hands for your blood?"

Near the brook, Mintor relaxes as his tension disipates "I fear we have
overstayed our welcome. M. Satel, would you find it convenient to call
on me at the Embassy. I should enjoy a chat under more relaxed
circumstances."

Near the brook, Arn says, "I'll hurry before you, My Lord, to make ready
the transportation."

Near the brook, Arn bowing again, Arn withdraws.

Near the brook, Satel looks quickly to Mintor and nods. "More relaxed
than these parties, mi'Lord? I fear, but will call." He bows from the
neck.

You walk through the Crystal Archway.
