A day in the life of a Siridar at the Imperial Ball
Jans Alvstad
Alvstad Faction Head
Log file from Dune3.
This was a log from the evening of the Ball. It contains some scenes from before the ball, as well as on the White Balcony.
I have omitted the scenes included in previous logs.

Mushtamal -- Alvstad Estate (Kaitain)
A large mushtamal, or garden courtyard, occupies the area between the southeast
and southwest wings of the Alvstad Estate. This garden, however, contains
only the sparest of plant life; instead, it resembles, more than anything, a
Zensufi rock garden. Large bluish rocks sit atop a well-tended bed of dark
sand, groomed into an intricate design by tiny rakes. In the center of the
mushtamal, a large circular pond ripples peacefully. In the center of the
pond, a large blue statue of a mermaid gazes across the square toward a small
blue statue of a seabird, which, in turn, stares transfixed at the mermaid.
Small, hardy plants poke out of both the sand and the water, and tiny exotic
fish dart across the pond. A wide, circular stone path--wide enough to permit
limousine access--surrounds the garden and serves as a traffic loop, and
three orinthopter pads abut the garden on the south, southeast, and southwest
sides.

Heavy Double Doors <N> leads to Grand Balcony -- Alvstad Estate (Kaitain)
A few molecules over one hindred and sixty five centimeters, this young
human is not the most imposing of figures, at least not at first sight.
She has something of the hawk in her, a sense of explosive energy and
movement kept under tight control. High cheekbones and a narrow face, long
slender hands that are habitually clasped behind her back. Flinty-grey eyes
that never seem to miss a source of data set off her slightly pale
complexion. Her hair is dark, pulled tightly back to the crown in a long
tail.
Her form is lean, with a layer of well-trained muscle coiled in wait,
and she has chosen clothing to accentuate this: a long dress of aqua silk,
unadorned but cut without shoulders, the material has been cleverly made to
cling ever so slightly for a moment more than usual. Traction-soled slippers
of the same color as the dress are revealed now and again.. here is a bit of
decoration: tiny pearls set into the uppers in a nautilus pattern.
Jans offers a small smile. "Good evening. I hadn't expected something
so....exquisite. You will excuse me, while I recompose myself."
Jans coughs, and offers a nod of his head, and a slightly larger grin. "You
will forgive my lack of manners. I really was expecting something.....well,
different. I am the Siridar Viscount Alvstad." He gestures toward the
doorway. "Will you join me inside?"
Aurelia had been standing near a pond, as she hears you approach she checks her
reflection.. vanity? Surely not in a Bene Gesserit Sister, though she doesn't
look the part. She turns and steps toward you a few paces, her arms clasping
behind her as is her habit. "Thank you, Your Lordship. I would be honored to
do so."
Jans gestures for her to enter, as a servant opens the door for the pair.
Aurelia smiles. "I thank Your Lordship." She is hesitant to go first, but she
_was_ directed. She goes.
Aurelia walks to the north and passes through the Heavy Double Doors.
You walk through the Heavy Double Doors.
Grand Balcony -- Alvstad Estate (Kaitain)(#153RtJ)
The grand balcony of the Alvstad Estate is a wide, ring-shaped band that
overlooks an enormous dodecagon-shaped ballroom. Four radially symmetric
staircases lead down to the ballroom, and four corridors lead off to the
different wings of the estate. The balcony is noticeably dark--the walls are
covered in dark cherry and the glowglobes are far apart and set dim. A
twelve-panel circular mural covers the walls; it depicts, in
ink-and-watercolor on silk, the full progression of the Alvst Zodiac.

Aurelia waits for you to pass, plucking at the material of her dress to
indicate it. "I hope that this will be formal enough attire... as your
Lordship knows, my Sisterhood tries to refrain from extravagance."
Jans smiles, "So....it seems you have me for a loss, my dear. I do not even
know your name. Only that you arrive on business of the sisterhood."
Jans raises an eyebrow. "Formal enough? I assure you, I seldom require formal
attire for such visitations."
Aurelia curtsies, and blushes.. perhaps she does nto have the control the other
Sisters seem to? Or is it forced? "Forgive me, Lord.. I am getting ahead of
myself. Yes.." She smiles. "I am called Aurelia. The business my Order sends
me on is a minor thing.. they have directed me to attend upon your Lordship
until a convient time arises for your Lordship. I am at your disposal." She
does curtsey this time.
Aurelia curtseys again, as if to cover her embarrassment. "If I may be so bold
as to guess my superiors' intentions, I believe they intended me to be at the
Ball. Would it be an outrage for my humble self to be seen with your
Lordship?"
Jans chuckles, once again looking the younger woman over. He smiles. "Well, it
does seem as if you are all dressed up....and it also happens that there is
to be a ball this eve.....and it also happens that I find myself without a
date for the first time in quite some while." He pauses briefly. "Of course,
I am probably reading too much into things." He shrugs, the smile slightly
wider. "Perhaps to some. If you would permit me to change, my lady? I cannot
go such as I am dressed now. If you require escort, it should only be one
properly attired."
Aurelia bends her knee again in a slight curtsey. "As your Lordship requires."
She smiles again.
Jans chuckles, and speaks into his commlink.
You say, "I shall return promptly. Feel free to look about."
You walk through the Northeast Arch.
Octopus Corridor -- Alvstad Estate (Kaitain)
This long, sloping hallway leads to the largest wing of the estate, where the
Alvstad family resides. A small security checkpoint sits at the far end. The
walls are not marred by doors; no rooms or other hallways branch from this
one. The grey and black wallpaper consists of long, undulating swiggles and
small circles not unlike suction cups. Every three meters, two glowglobes
float near the walls. At the bottom of the corridor, a small security
checkpoint, consisting mainly of a palmlock and turnstile, hinders fast
access to the family wing.

Aurelia walks in from Grand Balcony through the Heavy Double Doors.
You request a thopter over your communicator.
An Alvstad Ornithopter slowly spirals down out of the sky and lands softly.
Jans smiles, and holds open the door.
Alvstad Ornithopter
The light from the 'thopter console casts a green shade over the front
compartment. Two swivel chairs, one occupied by the pilot, are seperated from
the passenger area by a divider. Another pair of swivel chairs, elegantly
appointed, face the rear of the thopter. A cushioned, leather backed bench
curves along one side and the rear wall to the large passenger door.
(For help see 'vhelp')
The ornithopter will remain on hold until told to leave.
Aurelia climbs into the Alvstad Ornithopter.
Aurelia enters, and her dress is long enough to protect her modesty.
The ornithopter is no longer on hold.
The pilot nods.
The thopter's wings start beating, propelling it upward into the sky.
Outside you see, Several ornithopters at varying altitudes.
Jans smiles. "I have to fetch my cousin from our Embassy. I hope you do not
mind."
You are attempting to connect to Calix.
Outside you see, Several ornithopters at varying altitudes.
Connection has been established.
The ornithopter slowly spirals down making a soft landing.
Into your communicator, you say, "Calix, this is Jans. We have just arrived, so
don't make us wait too much longer. My date is eager for an evening of my
company."
Jans smiles slightly.
Aurelia smiles again. "My desire comes not into the equation.. but of course I
do not mind."
Jans chuckles. "It should, my dear. Everyone needs to enjoy themselves once and
a while."
Calix climbs into the Alvstad Ornithopter.
You break the communication connection.
Jans smiles, and pats Aurelia's hand. "My Lady Aurelia, this is my cousin.
Calix Alvstad, Earl of Anarjokka."
Aurelia nods. "As your Lordship says." She folds her hands into her lap,
sitting on the bench. She smiles and nods to the other gentleman. "Your
Lordship will forgive my manners, I would remain sitting.."
The pilot nods.
The thopter's wings start beating, propelling it upward into the sky.
Calix steps onto the plush Ornithopter, his eyes squinting slightly as the
adjust to the new lighting. Jans voice attracts his attention, and he smiles
slightly, adding his own curt halfbow. "Pleasure is all mine, Lady Aurelia."
The ornithopter slowly spirals down making a soft landing.
Calix corrects his stiff garmets, and takes his seat in the passenger area.
The ornithopter slowly spirals down making a soft landing.
Jans waits for Calix to open the door.
Jans clears his throat. "Shall we?"
Aurelia smiles. "Please."
Calix perks up towards Jans, and nods. "Lets." He then promptly moves to the
rather small 'thopter doorway, propping it open and waiting for the automatic
stepway.
Jans nods, then offers his hand to help Aurelia down.
Public Orni Pad -- Imperial Palace (Kaitain)
A sea of glazed plascrete, marked with a tremendous red O, is the landing point
for flocks of ornithopters from all over Kaitain. The wind from the beating
wings of the 'thopters rustles the hair and clothes of arriving and departing
visitors. Nearby, tall Sardaukar guards in gleaming dress uniforms and tall
shakoes stand at attention.

Carriageway -- Imperial Palace (Kaitain)
A short loop of roadway, with tall Ecazian windpalms standing at attention to
either side. Ground cars in brisk motion pick up or drop off passengers,
which they do at the curb before continuing along the carriageway and out.
Sardaukar guards in crisp dress uniforms and tall shakos stand at attention.
In the near distance, across the clear surface of the lake, can be seen the

Sergei moves his cane forward, his hand shaking a bit. He nods to Haroon, "ah
Regent, a pleasure to meet you, I have yet to visit the palace. My health an
all..."
Calix descends the Carved Marble Stairs.
Haroon pumps Satyavat's hand firmly "Haroon Kiamil, Regent to Bajazet.." he

A Harkonnen Limosine pulls in and comes to a smooth stop.
Jans slowly continues down the stairway, the Bene Gesserit Lady on one arm, his
cousin following behind.

Pipes (South) -- Imperial Palace (Kaitain)
The southern, underground terminus of 'The Pipes,' as the metaglass tunnels
leading under the lake to the Palace are known. One can either walk through
the middle Pipe, to observe the marine life in the lake, or use the Shuttle,
which travels in the outer Pipes. The distance between here and the Palace is
approximately one kilometer.

kinds of fish, sharks, whales, seals, dolphins, crustaceans, jelly-fish,
eels, and the occasional Urtalian platypus. The tunnel is about one kilometer

tall chain-link barricade, is an ancient cannon.
Some Imperial courtiers and tourists walk around the green while others sit and
stare either toward the city or the palace. Representatives of the Imperial
Historical Society are available throughout the green for conversation and to

breathlessly, and smiles.
Satyavrat notices the Alvstad delegation and steps forward. Picking Jans out
amongst the group, he bows formally. "Good evening to you, my Lord Alvstad."
Calix corrects Jans with a relatively flat, "No. Once, when I was younger."
Haroon leans over to whisper something to Sidra.
Cyrus bows in greeting, joining the others in theirs. "M'Lord." Standing
straight again and pulling his coat tighter around him.
Satyavrat just looked at you.
Jans acknowledges the bow of the Lord Bashar with a slight nod of his head and
an amused smile. "Lord Bashar. It has been some time indeed." He nods as
Calix speaks, "Ah, indeed."
Sidra sees Jans and graces him with a small serene smile, raising a hand,
gracefully, in greeting.
Sergei enters, out of breath. Muttering to himself, he continues foward

Haroon leads his entourage towards the reception foyer.
Haroon passes the Grand Entrance.
Satyavrat, smiling politely to the Viscount, steps over to Sergei.
Sidra passes the Grand Entrance.
Cyrus passes the Grand Entrance.
Standing slendor and a moderate six feet, one inch, Calix Alvstad is
not an overly intimidating individual. Instead, he exudes the aura of regal
formality and sly wit so famous of House Alvstad. His step is lively with
nonchalance, and his eyes are in a constant state of wonder.
Calix is a fairly attractive individual, with the narrow cheeks that
most nobility possess. His nose is only slightly to small for his face, and
his eyes are a smooth indigo. His hair is brushed backwards and cropped,
revealing a small widow's peak. He is currently adorning himself in the
typical drab of higher nobility, with just a dab of extravagence in his
outfit. Calix is wearing a grey and navy blue trimmed suit, with a small
crest of House Alvstad, and a marking beneath it to signify his status as an
Earl on the shoulder. Calix also wears a robe-like teal cape with navy blue
trim on his back, the teal signifying his house colors and the navy blue his
fief of Anarjokka.
Aurelia stands quietly on the Alvstad Viscount's arm, watching everyone.
Sergei nods quietly at first and then whispers, 'I should probably sit down for
a while once we get where we are going..'
Satyavrat smiles pleasantly to those present and helps Sergei over to a bench,
where the two of them sit.
Jans continues on toward the Palace.

Reception Foyer -- Imperial Palace (Kaitain)(#2481RtJ)
There can be no doubt that the architects of the Imperial Palace recognized
that the first interior impression a visitor would have would be the
Reception Foyer. The foyer is adorned with the most opulent and shameless
decor of any space in the Imperium. Decorated in a soft-Baroque style, the
massive, domed chamber, which reaches no less than 20 meters high, is
masterfully designed -- and with inestimable precision -- to attenuate any
echos or harsh sounds, despite the fact that the stark white marble floor is
dressed with neither rug or carpet and the walls with not a single tapestry.
The dome itself bears a remarkable mural, the largest such self-supporting
structure on Kaitain. Without exception, every noteworthy piece of furniture
appears to be an original, priceless antique. The chairs which line the walls
at strategic points appear to be originals from the 7th millennium,
flawlessly preserved. Two large gold framed mirrors adorn the north wall.
Several portraits line the east and west walls. Honor Guards in dress uniform
watch visitors motionlessly with penetrating gazes while Imperial servants
mill about quietly on various errands.

Jans stands behind the Bajazet entourage, chatting idly with the woman at his

Aurelia and Calix. She curtseys to them and bows her head slightly, "Welcome

Justine just looked at you.
Aurelia curtsies a bit from Jan's arm, but says nothing as yet.
Cromwell bows in concert with Justine, "Indeed, it is a pleasure to welcome the

Calix tilts his head forward in a nod towards Justine, "Lady Justine. It has
been a long time since we last spoke."
Jans smiles, and dips his head into nearly a bow. "It has been a long time,
Justine. It is good to see you again." He lifts his head, "The Lady Felgaard,

evening." He turns the other way, "And of course you might recognize this
charming fellow."

You mutter to Aurelia, ":continues to grin, "I mean surely you had to have seen
one of those before in the Sisterhood's filmbook viewers.""
Aurelia mutters to you, "Oh, it was something of a hobby.. and of course we are
expected to have a well-rounded education. I was just imagining what it must
have sounded like, the fear it must have caused.."
You mutter to Aurelia, ":snares two champagne glasses off a passing servant in
Imperial livery. "So tell me, my dear. What really are you here for? You do
look stunning.""
Aurelia mutters to you, "To please you, my Lord. Of course my Sisters are
embarrassed by our poor timing. As I said, our business is minor, at your
convenience."
You mutter to Aurelia, ":smiles, handing over the second glass to the lovely
Sister at his side. "Of course. It would please me if I had an inkling as to
the business, so that I might determine when it would be convenient.""
Aurelia mutters to you, "If it pleases your Lordship, this is an uncommon
event. Enjoy it, if I may advise."
You mutter to Aurelia, ":sips his wine, nodding. "As you wish, my dear. Perhaps
later this evening?""
Aurelia smiles to the Siridar-Viscount she speaks with.. perhaps she colors
just a bit.
Aurelia mutters to you, "Of course, my Lord.. I exist to serve."
You sense: Aurelia says this with total innocence, it seems.
Boris mutters to Ilsabet, "Ilsabet,... as to... Viscount Jans... quiet..."
Ilsabet nods to Boris. She leaves the bar smiling, walking towards the Viscount
Alvstad and company.
As Ilsabet approaches Jans she lowers into a curtsey. "Good evening My Lord
Viscount, I do hope your enjoying the ball." Her lips are curled upward,
forming a sharp grin.
Jans pauses as the music stops, and he finds a Harkonnen Ambassador in front of
him. He pats the hand of the Lady Aurelia as it rests upon his right arm. "We
are indeed, thank you very much."
Aurelia dips a curtsey in return to the Harkonnen lady and smiles, but says
nothing.
Ilsabet curtsies to the others by Jans, preparing to begin speaking again she
pauses, turning towards Justine.
Aurelia mutters to you, ":offers for the Viscount.. "Lady Ilsabet Ostrlik?""
Justine's eyes continue to flow over the room as she waits for everyone's
attention. She stands tall and proud but appears nervous as well.
From the orchestra pit a slow drumming arises, grows louder and quickens in
pace, then abruptly stops.
Justine smiles warmly as she clasps her hands together and places them in front
of her waist. Her eyes linger out in front of the people gathered and waits
for it to become silent before she clears her throat and loudly proclaims,
"Good evening My Lords, My Ladies and gentlemen! On behalf of His Most
Sublime Majesty, Jeon XIV, Padishah Emperor of the Known Universe, I would
like to welcome all of you this evening. We are here tonight to celebrate the
newly redecorated Palace. So please, relax and enjoy yourselves with savory
hors d'oeuvres, fine drinks, wonderful music and enchanting dancing while
admiring the new surroundings." Her arms then lift, hands come apart and
seperate to spread out, motioning about the room. "Again, we thank you for
coming!" Her head nods once, signaling the servants to enter the room with
trays filled with crystal glasses full of drink and scrumptous appetizers and
for the orchestra to begin playing their sweet serenade. She smiles and steps
down from the staged area to begin mingling amoungst the guests.
As the Lady is done with her speech the music begins playing once more, the
orchestra impressing with a rendition of a famous classical piece of a
Kaitain composer.
Servants flow throughout the room, offering glasses of the finest wines or
special requested drinks along with assorted mouth watering delectables.
Jans smiles, as if a thought clicked into place. He again pats the young Bene
Gesserit's arm affectionately. After pausing a moment for Justine's speech he
turns his attention back to Ilsabet. "Ah, Lady Ostrlik, yes. Thank you again,
for your well wishes."
Ilsabet returns her attention back towards Jans, "Good to hear My Lord... What
I had come to ask my Lord is if my Lord would care to join me for a drink at
the bar."
Jans glances over to the bar.
Jans turns his attention back to the Harkonnen Ambassador. "It seems a trifle
congested for my tastes. Perhaps you will join us in the balcony for a quiet
drink?"
Ilsabet looks over her shoulder towards the bar as well, "I would be honored to
accompany my Lord in the balcony."
You ascend to the white balcony.
Aurelia mutters to you, "A careful smile clicks onto Aurelia's face, but of
course she doesn't say anything. When Jans don't go, her eyes soften almost
imperceptibly."
Boris tosses back his drink and pushes away from the bar in disgust. He takes
up Jans' invitation and his courtiers follow in his wake.
Boris stands up from the bar.
Boris ascends to the white balcony.
Aurelia ascends to the white balcony.
Ilsabet ascends to the white balcony.
Calix mutters to you, "Haroon says the arrangement was satisfactory, and
suggested later dealings. He seemed in a hurry to be away from me, however."
The room fills with the alluring sounds of gentle music as the orchestra plays
it's soft songs for the guests.
On the white balcony, Jans again half bows to the Siridar Baron as settles into
a soft sofa seat, patting the seat next to him for the lady accompanying him
this evening.
On the white balcony, Boris pulls a cigar case from his vest, offering it to
Jans and Aurelia.
On the white balcony, Jans shakes his head slightly, "No thank you. A hard
habit to break, from my Navy days." He snags another champagne from yet
another in Imperial livery. "Have you met teh Lady Felgaard? Her order was
kind enough to let me borrow her for the evening."
On the white balcony, Aurelia does sit. She immediately rises to curtsey again
to the Baron. Sitting again, she glances at Jans, possibly for approval.
On the white balcony, Boris gloomily looks down at Haroon down in the ballroom,
as he pulls a cigar out and puffs it to life. He raises a brow at Jans'
words. "Order?"
On the white balcony, Aurelia smiles for the Baron, and keeps silent.
On the white balcony, Jans smiles. "It seems the Bene Gesserit find me popular,
Lord Baron." He smiles at her, perhaps in approval, perhaps a bit roguishly.
"And when they arrived dressed so....it is hard to turn such a lovely lady
down."
On the white balcony, Boris puffs on his cigar. "A Bene Gesserit," he says, a
smile on his lips."I congratulate you, she must be a fine ride, eh?"
On the white balcony, Jans frowns ever so slightly. "I escorted the Lady, not
vice versa. I could not tell if her ornithopter was better equipped to handle
the gusts of wind we seem to be having this evening."
On the white balcony, Aurelia smiles again, lowering her chin just a bit. Is
that color on her cheeks?
On the white balcony, Boris nods, shrugging. "It's a bit of business I'd
discuss with you, Viscount." He pours himself some brandy from a decanter
near at hand.
On the white balcony, Haroon makes his way up to the balcony, bowing to Jans
"My Lord" he smiles formally "I trust I'm not interrupting you, but I have a
small gift for the good Baron"
On the white balcony, Jans nods, sipping his champagne. He glances over to the
new arrival.
On the white balcony, Ilsabet looks back seeing Haroon come to the balcony. She
grins towards him before returning her attention back to the others.
On the white balcony, Jans shrugs. "The Baron and I were in the middle of
conversation. If he does not object to the intrusion.....I shall not."
On the white balcony, Sin'Vaari stands to Haroon's left, almost appearing out
of nowhere.
On the white balcony, Boris raises a bushy brow. "Gift?" he asks Haroon.
Haroon chuckles and replies to Jans "I shall be but a moment Viscount" He
rummages in the folds of his pelise, pulling out a scrap of material. It
looks like part of a standard "A gift for you Baron, the rest decorates a
wall in the Summer Palace" The cloth looks like a battle scarred fragment of
a Harkonnen standard.
On the white balcony, Jans watches Ilsabet and Haroon out of the corner of his
eye, sipping his champagne.
On the white balcony, Sin'Vaari grins.
On the white balcony, Ilsabet looks between Haroon and Boris, keeping most of
her attention on the first. Her grin sours closer to a scowl from the sight
of the scarred cloth.
On the white balcony, the Baron Harkonnen glowers at Haroon. His hand strays to
his kindjal, sheathed at his thigh. He forms his hands into fists,
deliberately and intentionally, face coloring as he takes the scrap.
"Haroon..." he begins, through clenched teeth. "Warmaster, we'll speak again
on this again, eh? Or perhaps I can convey my sentiments through those brave
Bajazet soldiers who are my guests on Malarca, eh?"
From On the white balcony, Jans frowns slightly, "So much for having a festive
evening."
On the white balcony, Haroon chuckles with a rumble "Of course Baron, of
course. Anyway, I shouldn't disrupt these festivities any further by giving
you more bad tidings." He bows to those present "I must take my leave and
apologise for this brief intrusion"
On the white balcony, Aurelia's face remains serene, even if her body perhaps
tenses just a bit.
On the white balcony, Ilsabet begins to shake with anger at Haroon's outragous
interruption. Clenching her fist, she glares at Haroon and Sin'Vaari waiting
for them to leave.
On the white balcony, using Amat, Sin'Vaari says, "... ... ... ... ... ... ...
... ... ..."
On the white balcony, Jans streches his legs, clearing his throat. He
deliberatly ignores the Bajazet. "Baron, my friend, we were discussing
something?"
On the white balcony, Haroon murmurs to Sin'Vaari "Come Rivest, we should take
our leave.. it looks as if your presence is as usual too much for young
Harkonnen Ladies to contain themselves" He bows again, and makes his way down
to the floor, spurs jangling as he does so
Haroon descends from the white balcony.
On the white balcony, Aurelia smiles once the Bajazet leave. "If I may,
certainly they would not have meant to offend. Perhaps they simply wanted to
offer their good-faith, since they know what an excellent host the House
Harkonnen will be toward their retainers?"
On the white balcony, Ilsabet turns to Boris, trying to relax herself. "My
only wish would be to kill those bastards myself, I'd love to see his face
twist while a knife slides into his back." Turning her anger into words, she
begins to settle herself down.
On the white balcony, Boris grasps the burned and torn standard in his hands,
and passes it to a courtier nearby. "I'll let you have some sport with the
prisoners, Ilsabet. As long as you wish."
On the white balcony, Jans sips his champagne, motioning for another glass.
"Ah, well. Yes, indeed."
Jeon is admitted through the French Doors by a pair of footmen.
On the white balcony, Ilsabet begins changing moods again, a little quick,
then again she appears she could be moody. "My Lord, I will definately take
that offer. I'll show him not to mess with us... Perhaps we can send him some
of the body part." her grin is very twisted.
The footman raises his voice and proclaims, "Lords and Ladies of the Imperium!
Presenting Emperor Jeon XIV!"
On the white balcony, Jans stands from the settee he was lounging on, turning
and facing the door he drops into a stiff formal bow to his Imperial Majesty.
On the white balcony, Jans frowns, as he sits back down. "Fashionably late,
indeed."
Aurelia rises and makes her curtsey almost to the ground. Then back to where
she was.
On the white balcony, Jans watches the Emperor with something of disgusted
amusement upon his face.
On the white balcony, Boris rises and gives a formal bow, but reseats himself
On the white balcony, Aurelia laughs, a small musical thing. "Better luck next
time, my Lord?" That to the Alvstad, of course.
On the white balcony, Ilsabet turns towards hte Emperor, curtsies, then turns
back.
On the white balcony, Ilsabet says, "My Lord Baron, I'm afraid I must be going
to attend to business at the embassy. Will my Lord allow my departure?"
On the white balcony, Boris nods. "Of course, of course. We'll speak soon, Lady
Ilsabet."
On the white balcony, Ilsabet curtsies to everyone on the Balcony, "It was
nice to see My Lords and Ladies." She then turns around to exit the ballroom.
On the white balcony, Jans waits for Ilsabet to leave, smiling thinly. "It has
been a thought in the back of my mind, Baron. I helped put him there, I can
help take him down just as easily."
Jeon ascends to the white balcony.
On the white balcony, Boris says, ""Eh? Put him where? Haroon?""
On the white balcony, Jans turns his tight smile into a full smile. He stands,
pulling the Lady Felgaard up with him. Bowing, "Your Majesty. How nice of you
to grace your party with your presence."
On the white balcony, Jeon smiles, and sketches a salute to those occupying the
white balcony. He walks around and comes over to stand near Jans, who
addresses him." he chuckles, "Well, Lady Ceile would not wish me to spend all
my time by her bedside. She'd probably be very angry at me."
On the white balcony, Aurelia rises immediately, and curtseys once again, very
deeply. That done, she steps back a pace or two, clasping her hands behind
her back.
On the white balcony, Boris rises again. "Your Majesty. My compliments on the
refurbished palace, eh?"
On the white balcony, Jans nods. "Of course." He then waits for a moment or
two. "Might I present the Lady Aurelia Felgaard. My companion this evening,
compliments of the Bene Gesserit."
On the white balcony, Jeon beams and nods at Boris, Lady Aurelia and Jans. He
says to Lady Felgaard, "Charmed, My lady. My Lord Jans is quite fortunate,
dare I go so far as blessed? to be seen in your company, my lady." He bows
his head to Jans, "My compliments." Then he turns to Boris, "Why, Boris. You
have no idea how that warmy my heart to hear you so say."
On the white balcony, Aurelia takes precisely one pace forward, which brings
her almost even with Jans. "Majesty, a great honor." Another curtsey.
On the white balcony, Jans nods. "Indeed. It seems so much more full
of......majesty, your Majesty. A remarkable facelift." He sips his champagne.
On the white balcony, Jeon smiles, "Well, friends. I am making my rounds of the
Ballroom. If you need for anything, just holler." He sketches another salute
and strolls on his way.
On the white balcony, Aurelia nods. "As your Majesty says."
On the white balcony, Boris says, "A good evening, your Majesty..."
On the white balcony, Jans sips his drink, then shrugs and sits back down as
the Emperor makes his departure. He looks over at Boris, with an incredulous
look upon his face.
On the white balcony, Boris drops on to one of the sofas and lights another
cigar, meeting Jans' expression with one of his own.
On the white balcony, Justine nods to both Boris and Jans, "Hello My Lords, I
hope you both are enjoying yourselves." She looks to Jans and his companion
as she motions to the dancefloor, "Viscount Alvstad, perhaps you should take
your enchanting guest for a dance? The music is quiet lovely this evening."
On the white balcony, Jans smiles, "The music is fine indeed. Perhaps in a
short while. The Baron and I were trying to have a small discussion."
On the white balcony, Jeon says, "was about to leave but for the time since
he's been in deep conversation with a guard, who is discussing something. The
Emperor frowns and nods."
On the white balcony, Justine looks back and forth between Boris and Jans, then
blushes slightly, "Oh, I am sorry, I didn't mean to intrude. I merely came to
claim my promise from the Emperor." She looks to Jeon and asks, "Your
Majesty?"
On the white balcony, Jeon turns and smiles, "Oh ... Lady Justine, have you
been standing here this while? Sorry, this guard was telling me that the Suks
are continuing even more tests of my Love." He sighs, "But, you are right,
come I owe you a promise. Shall we?" He offers her his arms.
On the white balcony, Justine slips her hand under the crook of his arm and
nods to him with a smile, "Of course, Your Majesty and no apologies are
needed." She then walks down from the balcony with him, leaving Boris and
Jans to talk.
Justine descends from the white balcony.
On the white balcony, Jans offers a wry smile. "It would be too bad, if
something happened to her and the child. Of all the choices, he chooses an
entertainer."
On the white balcony, Boris drops into a sofa, watching the Emperor and Justine
retreat down the stairs. "Family's most important, Viscount." he allows.
Platinum Ballroom -- Imperial Palace (Kaitain)
The huge scope, flair and dazzle of the Platinum Ballroom are no less than
stunning. Designed primarily for acoustics, the massive Grand Ballroom is
dominated by an oval ceiling, lending the space the auditory flexibility to
manage anything from chamber music to large bands. White and platinum silver
dominate the decor and lend the room an unexpected brilliance. The walls are
covered in platinum details, along with the fixtures and the trappings. Twin
balconies, a regal silver one and a stately white one, overlook the room from
high on the east wall.
The parquet dance floor is seamed with platinum wire and could accommodate a
horde of dancers. Nearby the dance floor is the huge orchestra pit, capable
of holding the entire Kaitain Polyphonic.
The west wall is composed entirely of double French Doors, which admit the
western sunset and permit open access to Ezher VII's Patio. Just as easily,
when closed, the French Doors create an intimate setting for a more private
affair. The lighting is brilliant, more dramatic than elsewhere in the
Palace, befitting the festive function of the room. The entire room is
picture perfection, groomed and maintained brilliantly.

On the white balcony, Jans nods. "If one considers that such, I do suppose you
have a point."
On the white balcony, Boris says, "On to business, eh? I wished to discuss an
arrangement. You were saying before about Haroon?"
On the white balcony, Jans pauses for a moment. "I was?"
On the white balcony, Boris says, "You put him in place, you said, eh?"
On the white balcony, Jans sips his champagne. He smiles, "Oh, that." He pauses
upon being interrupted to look at the latest intrusion.
You last paged Aurelia.
Satyavrat walks into the balcony slowly, taking note of the occupants. He bows
to both men present, saying "Ah, pardon me, my Lords. I apologize for the
interruption. May I join you...or is this a...ah, private conversation?"
On the white balcony, Boris holds a finger to his temple, as if he has a
monster of a headache. Interruptions, interruptions! "What is it, you
Rastanyev turnip farmer?" he demands of Satyavrat.
On the white balcony, Jans smiles politely, but his eyes are growing tired of
being interrupted. "We would like it to remain a private conversation.
Perhaps you could call upon my cousin later this week?"
On the white balcony, Aurelia smiles at the Rastanyev gentleman, her hands in
her lap.
On the white balcony, Satyavrat turns first to face Jans. "Of course, my Lord.
I understand." He then turn to the Lady Aurelia, smiling. "Good evening, my
Lady." Finally, he stares at Boris, eyebrow cocked. "Lord Harkonnen," he says
flatly. With that, he turns to leave
Satyavrat descends from the white balcony.
On the white balcony, Boris rises, pours a stiff drink and tosses it back.
Still standing, he says to Jans, "See here. I'm here to speak to you about an
arrangement."
On the white balcony, Jans sighs irritably, "Are we the center of Kaitain's
gossip this month?"
On the white balcony, Jans grabs yet another champagne. "I had an inkling, my
friend." He smiles wryly. "Yet it seems the rest of the city is oblivious."
On the white balcony, Aurelia laughs again for a moment. "If not yet, my Lord..
soon. If I cause embarassment from gossip, I am truly sorry."
On the white balcony, Boris says, "I don't care a fig for them. I wish to make
sure that any so-called evidence gathered by our friends the Sardaukar is
viewed...shall we say, sympathetically?"
On the white balcony, Jans turns to Aurelia, "My dear, perhaps you could go
entertain that Rastanyev diplomat for a few moments? I feel I owe him a small
apology." He reaches up and touches her cheek for a moment. "You call no
gossip upon us. The Baron and I are reason enough to be contantly bombarded."
On the white balcony, Boris says to Aurelia, "For myself, I am of course
irrestible, Lady Aurelia."
On the white balcony, Aurelia rises. "Yes, that does seem wise." She dips a
small curtsey to both nobles and is quickly on her way.
On the white balcony, Jans says, "Thank you, my dear."
On the white balcony, Jans stands, walking with her to the stairs, before
turning back to Boris.
Aurelia descends from the white balcony.
On the white balcony, Jans smiles. "She is deceptive, that one. I find myself
wondering what purpose they had in sending her to me. Who knows, what is in
the mind of such women?"
On the white balcony, Jans says, "But, I do suppose there is advantages to
having such women at your side, as well."
On the white balcony, Jans turns, and paces the balcony briefly, tapping his
cane. "My first question, my friend. Is the evidence. How far do you wish to
go with this?"
On the white balcony, Jans rubs his right thigh a little, then sits back down.
On the white balcony, Boris says, "Mind your step about her, is all I can say,
my lord. The Bene Gesserits are not to be underestimated." He nods.
"Regarding the evidence, what will avoid unnecessary problems, eh?"
On the white balcony, Jans looks down at the dance floor, smirking at the
Emperor and Justine. "Did the Sardukar obtain it legally?"
On the white balcony, Jans sips his champagne. "Or is this another exercise of
His Majesty's will skirting the finer points of the Great Convention?"
On the white balcony, Boris narrows his eyes. "Yes, yes, they've obtained it
legally. I could hardly stop the Sardaukar, eh?"
On the white balcony, Jans chuckles. "Perhaps. This evidence, as you call it,
might I inquire as to what it will prove?"
On the white balcony, Boris says, "If Jeon has his way, it'll portray us as
blackguards, eh? And what we have been doing is exercising our rights. Rights
as a Great House of the Landsraad!"
On the white balcony, Jans nods. "You have heard, His Majesty and I have our
differences, now. I do not know if I can speak to him directly." He turns his
gaze from the floor back toward the man opposite him. "And I do not wish to
try."
On the white balcony, Boris nods. "Yes, yes. I can compensate you for it, eh?"
On the dance floor, Justine's head shakes to Jeon and smiles to the man, "I
have been enjoying it, Your Majesty." She then looks about the room and
chuckles lightly, "Besides, I don't see anyone else waiting for a dance, do
you?"
On the white balcony, Jans purses his lips in thought. "You could not
compensate me enough to speak with him." He pauses. "There are always other
means, however."
On the white balcony, Boris gestures. "Speak on, my lord, speak on..."
On the white balcony, Jans swirls his drink. "If it was a matter brought before
your peers.....not before his Majesty....his reach is shorter there."
On the white balcony, Boris rises as well, glancing at the dancers below. "And
this matter--would be viewed favorably, eh? Fairly?"
On the white balcony, Jans chuckles. "It is possible, yes. We would have to
talk at greater length, but I am sure something can be arranged." He points
his glass at the Rastanyev Lord. "Not a bad idea, sending my lithe young
companion to kindle the interest of such a potentially powerful new face on
Kaitain. Josef, may he recover swiftly, is in no position to aid his friends
at this moment." He looks at Boris. "Is he?"
On the white balcony, Boris gulps his brandy. "Hardly. Right now he's no better
to aid them than any vegetable, eh?" He studies Jans' face. "We will speak in
more detail, my friend."
On the white balcony, Jans nods, and finishes his champagne. He offers a wry
grin, "The game is afoot, eh?" He tosses the glass onto the floor. "I shall
await your call, my Lord Baron." He steps on it, grinding the crystal into
the carpet.
On the white balcony, Boris grins wildly, throwing back his head in a mirthful
laugh. "I knew we could do business together, my lord! Indeed we can." He
throws his own glass next to Jans', shattering it.
Boris descends from the white balcony.
You descend from the white balcony.
