LC Meeting -- May 7, 2000

Courtyard -- Ginaz Embassy (Kaitain)

Behind a wrought iron fence, with the SEAL of House Ginaz in the center of the gate and two one man GUARDHOUSES, lies the open courtyard of the Ginaz embassy. A road leads straight to the main entrance of the embassy, encircling a four story FOUNTAIN. The lawn around the building is a dark green and groomed to perfection, with many pines and shrubs dotting the area, in tastefully arranged randomness. The embassy itself is at least thirty story structure designed like a giant six pointed Star of David. The building itself is made of a dark blue granite that is native only to the home-planet of the Ginaz. The embassy uses what would be considered a Gothic style with flying buttresses and windows all coming to a point. A 'thopter pad can be seen atop the building as well as the rotating colors of the crystal dome over the center of this gargantuan star.

Nadira steps out of her limo, looks around briefly, and unsnaps her fan. Letting it sway gently in her palm, she makes her way torward the location of the Congress. If she sees the Old Boar, she gives no sign.

Srulin exits the Ginaz Limosine.

Exits:

Double Doors <E> leads to Inner Rotunda -- Landsraad Congress (Kaitain)

Srulin walks in from Inner Rotunda through the Double Doors.

Srulin has arrived.

Sidra seats herself comfortably, next to Hasan

Hasan moves over one seat, so that Haroon can takes his place as head of the delegation. He keeps his eyes forward as he nods.

You join the Ginaz seating.

Srulin joins you at the Ginaz seating.

Eduard asks the Lord Chancellor, eyeing Sartori, "My lord, is it the fashion amongst the Sardaukar to merely nod to their betters? I must remember to remind my brother of the new style..."

Nadira is seated amongst the rabble, but retains the dignity of some ancient Queen sitting upon a palanquin. She watches the proceedings with a solemn expression, though her lips are pursed in something more akin to amusement.

Mikhail rises from his seat, offering a half-bow to the assembled persons in the chamber. As if it were an after-thought he remembers to remove his glasses before continuing, a slight smirk on his face. "Nobles of the Federated Houses, this meeting of the Landsraad Congress is hereby called to order."

Justine enters after Steffan with no expression on her face whatsoever. She turns towards the Corrino table and curtsies low to her 'family' before rising and moving to sit in her place next to Steffan, smoothing out her blue velvet dress once seated.

Hasan sits as if he were the only person in the Congresional chamber.

From House Ginaz, Ornia just watches Justine for a bit and remains seated keep quiet.

Sidra looks studiously at a small leatherbound portfolio she carried at her side.

Lochinvar nods to Tsukasa.

From House Ginaz, Justine's eyes remain locked on the head table with her hands folded in her lap. She's sitting up straight and proper with a serious air about her.

Tsukasa formally bows in the direction of the Corrino table.

From House Ginaz, Steffan sighs, "Good evening.." He sits preocupied looking at several documents that he brought with him. A folder with a number of letters are spread over the table.

Iason looks around, nodding to the others as they arrive.

Sidra notes the new arrivals with a serious expression.

From House Ginaz, Ornia just smiles at seeing Justine act like Steffan as she crosses her legs some and sits back in a much more relaxxed mannor and thinks . o O (Thank god I am not on the choping block this time)

Mikhail resumes his seat rather abruptly as an aide slides a docket infront of him. He takes a brief moment to look it over before continuing to speak. "The first item on the agenda for this evening is the ongoing dispute between the noble houses Harkonnen, and Bajazet over the contract-world of Malarca Secundus. Parties wishing to speak will notify the chair in advance."

Cesare quirks a bemused eyebrow at this topic, a seeming sessional favourite in the Congress.

Sartori 's eyes scan the room

Mikhail nods to the Harkonnen table, "The chair recognizes the House Harkonnen." a slight nod to Boris, "M'lord Harkonnen has the floor."

Sartori turns his attention to Lord Harkonnen,a deadness of emotion apparent on his face.

As the na-Earl speaks, Steffan looks up and places a number of documents back into a folder laying on the table. He glances breifly at the Baron.

Tsukasa finds an empty seat in the public section and sits.

Lochinvar looks to the Baron and offers a nod with a smile.

From House Ginaz, Srulin sits beside Steffan and looks on towards the floor.

Ornia seems to sit up more takeing a deffinate intrest in the events happening

Nadira leans back in her seat, resting her chin on her hand like a Roman about to enjoy a really good, bloody, gladiator duel. Which is an approximation of what happens whenever Boris has the floor.

Haroon settles back in his seat with his arms folded over his chest.

Lochinvar leans over ans whipsers into the Caid's ear. Then sits back.

Sidra eyes Boris, dubiously, as he stands to speak

Bulova walks in from Inner Rotunda through the Double Doors.

Bulova has arrived.

Sartori nods and smiles

Bulova joins the Venhei seating.

Iason waits silently at his seat, looking up from some papers.

Boris rises, a bemused smirk on his face like he's just eaten some delightful meal. "Lords and ladies of the Landsraad. Why do we continue to waste the time of this body with this trivial matter? It's to no profit, surely." He says, more seriously, "We wish it read into the records that from the beginning House Harkonnen has only desired a peaceful solution to the Malarca problem."

Hasan says, "Hear, hear" under his breath, but not too quietly, when the Baron mentions wasting time.

Justine's eyes remain locked on the main table, not really looking at anyone, especially those speaking. Her face continues to remain expressionless.

Srulin looks on towards the table, looking over towards at the Baron with empty eyes.

From House Corrino, Cromwell silently takes in all of the Baron's words, memorizing them for future reference.

Sidra writes something in her portfolio.

Boris continues calmly. "Words have not moved the problem one whit towards that solution. As such...I move for a resolution that we disallow any further conversation on this matter in this Congress."

Bulova places his hand on his chin and rubs it a little and places it back to his side. He begins noting down information with his other hand with a small notebook and a writing utensil. Constantly he'd look up to the Baron and then to see his writng.

From House Ginaz, Steffan hrms, then glaces over the Bajazet Regent to see his response.

Mikhail arches a coal black eyebrow as the Baron finishes his statement. An amused smirk set upon his face. "Thank you m'lord Harkonnen. Your statements have been duly noted. As much as all of us here would prefer for thus matter to be done and over with, so that we may all get back to other matters I fear that it cannot be closed nor barred from discussion in this body." His right hand clenches into a fist on the table. "To bar discussion of this topic would not be prudent. House Bajazet, you care to offer a reply?"

Boris takes his seat again, lighting a cigar in a cloud of fragrant blue smoke.

Haroon nods to the Chair and indicates Hasan who rises to speak.

Iason arches his brows, but makes no comment save to look around.

Sidra bears a solemn expression, as she waits for Hasan to speak.

Hasan stands slowly. He speaks without notes, but as if he is reading from a preapred speech. He manner indicates a sense of boredom, "My Lord Council. I am Pasha Hasan Kemal, of House Bajazet. I have lately arrived from the Bajazet fief in question. The suffering there, initiated by Harkonnen malfeasance, is not inconsiderable." His expression does not show much personal anguish for this suffering. "Of note is a Malaracan peasant revolt in the areas usurped by the House of the Ram. This kind of action is the unfortunate result of acting against the Forms, we feel. The situation on the ground goes against the Harkonnen, and does not affect our resources. Therefore, if the Baron wishes to waste the capital of his CHOAM shares against locals, we are content to wait for the Imperial Report, which we are confident will support our claims. We need not add to the exchange... of words."

Cesare coughs ... loudly.

Dominic walks in from Inner Rotunda through the Double Doors.

Dominic has arrived.

Dominic quietly enters the room and makes his way towards the Ginaz seating.

Hasan bows with a military snap and returns to his seat. He does not acknowledge anyone around him.

Bulova begins slowly looking towards all the people that represent their respectful Houses. He studies each character carefully noting their features and expressions and how they are seated. He takes some more notes down, taking them onto paper becuase this is the first Landsraad meeting he has ever been in.

From House Ginaz, Justine's eyes widen slightly as they flicker over to Hasan when he begins to speak. A brief look of surprise plays on her face but leaves as quickly as it came when her eyes turn back to Mikhail and go dead again.

From House Ginaz, Steffan pulls his lighter and a cigar from his inside pocket. He sticks the cigar in his mouth and lights it quickly, puffing on it gently as he does so, "ah Dominic, good of you to come. "

Mikhail nods silently to Hasan. "Pasha, We must all wait for his Majesty to make his report known to us. Until such time, I fear that my hands are tied. We can take no action of our own as we have not enough hard evidence. Baron Harkonnen, do you care to retort?"

Cesare looks briefly to Prince Eduard as the matter of His Majesty's ... much anticipated and postponed report is mentioned.

To your place, Dominic says, "Dominic nods. "Greetings, my lord" He sits down."

From House Ginaz, Ornia just shifts and seems to wish to speak so muhc, but holds her tounge knowing it is not her place.

From House Ginaz, Justine nods slightly to Dominic but keeps her eyes focused on Mikhail's table.

From House Ginaz, Srulin looks over to Steffan and frowns at his habit in disapprovement. He looks to Justine looking at her expressions and to his sisters. He looks back to the table to see the current speaker and to listen to him.

The baron rises, smiling and gesturing with his cigar at the Bajazets. "The Pasha and his beturbaned ilk have been promising this and that. And they delived nothing!" He balls up a fist. "Nothing at all! I submit it's further delaying tactics."

Hasan speaks with open contempt, and no introduction, "We are agreeing with you, /Baron/."

Muted laughter can be heard from the gallery.

Sartori raises an eyebrow.

Bulova raises a brow aswell and begins taking more notes down.

Haroon leans forward and makes eye contact with Mikhail. He motions with his hand to speak.

From House Ginaz, Ornia balls both her fists where she sits as it is obvious she grows upset at hearing the currnet topic. Ornia finnaly grabs at the armrests on her seat and grips at them hard doing all she can to keep from just shouting.

A sharp sigh escapes the na-Earl's lips. "My dear Baron it does not appear that they promised anything at all. The Pasha merely stated that his forces were content to wait this matter out until resolution. In the interest of fairness and neutrality, I feel that it must be entered into record that the Bajazet DO control M. Secundus until the year 10,500." A slight gesture with his left hand toward the Bajazet, indicating that Haroon may speak.

Iason stifles a sigh behind his mask of impartiality, his green eyes watching the proceedings.

From House Ginaz, Steffan smirks at the exchange but says nothing. He taps a few of his cigar ashes into a tray on the table.

Boris seats himself, whispering angrily at an underling to make a note.

Sidra accepts a glass of water from a passing attendant

Nadira watches the faces and body placement as well as miniscule movements of those members of the Landsraad delegations that catch her attention. Boris and Ornia seem to catch her eye in particular.

Haroon rises to face the assembled congress and nods a short bow. He bears a slightly ironic look on his face as he begins his reply in a calm voice. "House Bajazet agree entirely with House Harkonnen that the issues concerning Malarca Secundus be resolved as soon as possible." He glances around the room as he continues "As such we choose to charge House Harkonnen with malfeasance." He nods to the Imperial seating. "We are confident that His Majesty's report will support our claim and hope that this can expediate the progress of this matter."

From House Ginaz, Srulin looks over to Ornia and sighs at her as he notices her gripping her hands to the seat. He shakes his head, wanting to comfort her but needing to stay alert and keep track of the topics being talked about in the Congress. he felt, is currently more important.

Sidra finishes a notation, and taps her stylus, softly against the leather binder.

From House Ginaz, Steffan puffs on his cigar in an obvious attempt to surpress a smile.

Haroon settles back into his seat and watches the Baron's response.

Cesare remains silent, looking more towards the Ginaz than he does the discoursing Bajazet and Harkonnen.

Boris protests, rising, "To make such a charge with no evidence is absurd. All they have are promises! " He stabs Bajazetwise with his cheroot. "If Warmaster Haroon were a proper Siridar, instead of a trumped-up jockey he'd surely realize that!"

Hasan's expression of boredom is unchanged. He makes no notes, as he has brought neither pad nor stlus.

From House Ginaz, Ornia just shakes he rhead and finnaly closes her eyes just to listen and keep her own temper realed in, doing her best to not make a scean

Hasan speaks up again, "Could the Lord Council please ask the Baron to list these promises?"

Sartori wispers to Major Lochinvar

Mikhail arches an eyebrow. The smirk fades from his face, his countenance reads a mask of expressionless neutrality. "Noted. If his Majesty's delegation can nay produce any inkling of this report tonight then we can not move on this charge until then." His gaze darts to the Harkonnen seating, "Baron Harkonnen! There will be _no_ outbursts. The council wishes you to list these promises, for the record."

Lochinvar smirks and nods to the Caid.

From House Corrino, Cromwell raises slightly in his seat, 'If it plase the chair, the Imperial opinon on this matter can be presented upon request.'

Haroon watches the now traditional 'scolding of the baron' with a tired expression.

From House Ginaz, Justine is still sitting upright with her eyes focused on the head table and her face is expressionless.

Bulova looks down at his clothing after noting what everybody wears as a part of their uniforms. He notices that his clothing seems to be not very appropriate for the meeting. One sleeve on the top appears to be a Venhei emblem and the other particularly the exact opposite side is the emblem of House Obrenovi.

From House Atreides, Iason shakes his head a bit, but makes no other sign of approval or disproval.

Boris eyes Mikhail with impatience. "They promise this report will vindicate them, eh? I'd not give a Venhei ornithopter for such talk."

Mikhail nods to the Imperial Chancellor. "Forgive me for breaking the order of speech, the chair must now recognise the Imperial representative." A slight smile at the Baron. "We shall see shortly my dear Baron. Mentat-Chancellor if you please."

Sartori leans back

Sartori wispers to Lochinvar

Lochinvar nods.

To your place, Dominic says, "What report are they talking about, my lord?"

As soon as the name Venhei was brought up. He looks up, towards the tables and searches for who hsa said it. He looks around curiously, making his writing utensil drop to the ground. He leans over to find it again but couldn't. Sighing, he looks up, opening all ears and tries to take notes without a writing utensil. (Bulova's pose)

Cromwell rises from his seat and makes his way to the podium.

Lochinvar whipsers to Sartori.

From House Ginaz, Steffan smiles, "The Sarduakar on on Malarca as observers. They supposedly will accuse the Harkonnens of malfeasance with that report.."

Lochinvar shrugs.

From House Ginaz, Ornia opens her eyes and loosk strait at steffan "I wish this was over so I coudl see Assaf again."

Sartori shakes his head diappointedly

Sartori wisper to Lochinvar

Lochinvar nods in agreement. Then looks up to Tsukasa who he gives a quick acknowlegedment to.

Garrett walks in from Inner Rotunda through the Double Doors.

Garrett has arrived.

Tsukasa nods to Lochinvar.

Cromwell nods the the Chair then begins, "Siridari, Ladies, and Gentlemen. Pursuant to section 270 of the Great Convention of the Imperium, regarding the charge of Malfeasance it is the opinion of his Subblime Majesty Jeon XIV that charges are indeed warranted against the Great House Harkonnen for the following reasons. A. At now time was a declaration of Kanly made between House Harkonnen and House Bajazet. B. No judge of the changes was ever appointed by his Majesty to adjudicate a confilct between the two afore mentioned houses. C. Casualties occured which, by irtue of it's absence, did not appear on a list of acceptable targets. As this is a Landsraad matter as directed by the Great Convention his Majesty requests that a full investigation be ordered.

Sidra drops her stylus, and leans to pick it up.

Cesare yawns expansively, and hopes that is the end of the matter for tonight.

Boris idly taps ash from his cigar, muttering to a clerk nearby and then chuckling.

Mikhail nods to the Imperial Representative. "The forms must be obeyed. An investigation shall take place as soon as possible."

From House Ginaz, Ornia leans over to lightly speak to Srulin, steffan and Justine "Forgive me for not staying longer, but I am afriad if I do I will do something rash." She slowly starts to stand up

Hasan looks down as the Vizier's stylus falls. He appears not to care in the least about the findings.

Sartori leans forward a pleased exspresion on his features.

From House Ginaz, Justine doesn't reply to Ornia or even act as if she heard her. She remains still and quiet.

Lochinvar sits back with a very concerned and worried look on his handsome face.

Cromwell then continues, "On a less formal note, I feel it is apprpriate to indicate to the Landsraad that his Majesty takes very seriously. He further directs his subjests to respect the fact that he has not simple struck has he has seen fit and endevored to respect the ancient prerogatives of the Landsrrad. If, however, he sees that the Great Houses are unable, or unwilling to discharge this matter has it deserves, he will rethink his previous good will and move has he sees fit.

From House Ginaz, Srulin looks over to Ornia and blinks at her. He shrugs a little and whispers to her. "You do what you please then."

Boris mutters to himself, "..."

From House Ginaz, Steffan hrms looking at his sister, "very well then." His glance shifts back to Locnivar.

Cesare smiles at the Imperial Chancellor and nods, piping up, "We, His Majesty's dutiful 'children', hear and obey, of course."

Sartori grins

From House Ginaz, Ornia frowns a bit at Srulins words and then just turns to leave

Haroon , unlike some, isn't going to bite the hand that feeds him so says nothing. He nods to the Chancellor and again to the Baron.

Ornia leaves the Ginaz seating.

Mikhail arches an eyebrow once more. "Baron Harkonnen, you may of course defend yourself in this matter. However, I fear that the Great Convention states policy clearly in these matters. It is noted that you did not bring declaration of Kanly before the Council, though you had many oportunities to do so."

Cromwell turns toward the Moritani Count, "Indeed the Count takes my point exactly. Those who behave like children will be punished as children."

Boris raps on his table, with approval at Cesare's words.

Cesare looks to the presiding Na-Earl and inquires, getting a bit impatient, "May we proceed then, as it would seem nothing else is to come of this issue tonight?"

Ornia stand sand leaves the Ginaz area slowly. She bothers to glare at Boris as she does leave

Boris rises, "Kanly with who, Lord Chairman? This Bajazet usurper? House Harkonnen will treat with the proper heirs of Sultan Shar'ara'diin, as is our ancient right...Not some stable boy!"

Cromwell notes almost absently, "It should be noted that according to the Emperor's ancient prerogative he has duely recognised the Lord Bashir as the lawfull representative for house Bajazet and any comments to the contrary are look on as challenges to the Emperor's will."

Hasan yawns, not in a manner staged for the benefit of others, but from sheer boredom.

Cesare grumbles. "Let us /please/ proceed rather than expound upon this senseless bickering. There are other matters at hand."

Haroon gives Boris a look laced with utter disdain.

Mikhail sighs "Baron Harkonnen!" his voice is sharp and scolding. "Bajazet law dictates that a woman may not assume the Siridarship of her house, and that a competent Regent must be appointed to speak in her name. I assure you, his Majesty has nay spoke against this, if you would care to lodge a complaint, I am sure his majesty would be more than happy to entertain your concerns."

Boris mutters to himself, "..."

Sartori turns his attention twords the baron

Ornia moves on out of the room now.

Ornia walks to the east and passes through the Double Doors.

Ornia has left.

Sidra finds her writing utensil, and sits up, quickly, knocking over her glass of water.

Cromwell nods to the Chair, "I yeild the podium to the chair but impart this final comment. It would be well for the Landsraad to deal with this matter compentantly, and /quickly/ or the boredom that seems to be rampant in this chamber will be quickly replaced with a far more urgent emotion."

Cesare expounds upon that with one bitter word, "Rebellion."

Cromwell turns and rejoins the Corrino seating.

Boris seats himself with an expression of disgust.

Eduard studies the Moritani count quietly.

Sartori narrows his eyes and sits back, eyes the recent voice.

Nadira continues to watch from her seat, expression like that of a Cheshire cat.

Bulova remains silent, looking at the head table then to the Harkonnen Baron and the Moritani Count. He then tries to retreave his writing utensil again.

Mikhail nods. "Thank you Chancellor. Baron. Do you offer no deffense for yourself. You are charged on this day with a clear violation of the Forms. If you choose to offer no deffense, the chair will move on to the matter of the Moritani/Ginaz Kanly."

Boris snaps at Mikhail, "In the fullness of time, Lord Chairman. Pray, do go on."

Mikhail nods and bangs his gavel on the table. "The matter of Malarca is closed for the evening. The chair would recognise Count Cesare Moritani."

Cesare addresses the assemblage from his seat in beginning, "I think this matter is best addressed by first giving emphasis to the grave, the final repose of the dead."

Hasan turns his head to watch the Count Moritani. He seems interested for the first time this evening.

The Siridar Count Moritani rises from his chair, resting heavily upon the table before him to support a weight as yet weak on its feet. His eyes of darkest blue sweep the room, resting at last upon the Marquis Ginaz as he addresses, to that man and to all, "It has been not long since we laid the late Count Galeazzo, my dear father, to his final rest ... though we call it such in ignorance," he notes with a bitter chuckle, cruel and devoid of any mirth or amusement.

Srulin looks over at the Count oddly as he noticed the glare going towards his brother. He looks over to Steffan to see his expression.

Justine's eyes remain locked on Mikhail and her face is expressionless.

Sidra turns her ferocious expression, from Hasan, to Hasan, clearly surprised.

Continuing, Count Cesare states in a tone clear and resonant, reverberating throughout the cavernous chamber with perfect clarity and pitch, "This is a busy time for my father. The creatures are at work: crawling between his lips, entering into his nose, burrowing beneath his eyes. Worms are competing with foul maggots for the tastiest morsels. Even now, he is being invaded by a legion of grey flesh-eaters. Even now, that body writhes and moves with the activities of countless parasites. There is no peace for my father, and will be none until he is consumed and rotten. Only then will his white bones be at rest. This is our common end, Marquis Ginaz, to be picked clean by worms, flesh curdling with corruption, stinking like a blocked midden. Do not ever speak to me of peace and God's good grace. Dying ... is a fearsome process."

Steffan frowns as he looks at the Count, his brows furrowed. He puffs on his cigar as he listens.

Boris glares at Steffan. Galeazzo, in life, was his dear friend.

Juseppe walks in from Inner Rotunda through the Double Doors.

Juseppe has arrived.

A man walks in carefully aided by a cane.

Juseppe joins the Bajazet seating.

Allowing his words to sink in to their full extent, Count Cesare Moritani concludes. "When you are lying on your last bed, Ginaz, remember my words. Cry out for mercy. Bite deep into your lips ... and recall how you plotted my father's most terrible end."

Srulin frowns as well with the cruel words of the Moritani count forwarded to his brother. He crosses his arms at his chest and listens onward.

Boris calls to Cesare, "Well spoken, my friend." From the Moritani and Harkonnen galleries, applause rises.

Steffan clears his throat with a smile, flicking a few ashes into the tray. He remains quiet, comtempating a response.

Sidra turns her head for a split second, to note the new arrival, and then promptly excuses herself, stands, curtseys graciously (if curtly) to Juseppe and leaves the Bajazet seating. Almost as an afterthought, she grabs her portfolio.

Cesare smiles rather genuinely now, a cruel, hard sneer directed to the Ginaz tiers. "Your entire House will pay for his death with your collective demise. Leave this place and call your priests. Say your final prayers, but don't bother praying for absolution. I will see every last one of you damned to Hell. The Moritani/Ginaz kanly will continue to writhe until the cadaverous form of your House is completely devoured ... and lies silent in its grave." With that, the Siridar-Count Moritani resumes his seat, silently sneering at his enemies.

Sidra walks to the east and passes through the Double Doors.

Sidra has left.

Juseppe Walks over to the Bajazet seating area and sits down.

Justine's non-expressive demenour finally falls as her eyes close and her head lowers at the Count's curse of death. It has now been placed upon her as well.

Srulin eyes his blue eyes towards the Siridar-Count. His lips, curling into a grin of disbelief. He continues to glare at him.

Hasan's expression, though attentive to the procedings, is as unchanging as the Forms themselves.

From House Bajazet, Juseppe looks around the room and sees in astonishment that there is a Venhei representative.

Mikhail looks from the Moritani to the Ginaz seating. "These are grim words, Count Cesare. My lord Steffan, do you have any reply?"

Bulova sits silently in his respectful area. He finds his writing utensil and begins writing notes that he has missed. He also writes down the information about the relationships of

Harkonnen and Bajazet and Moritani and Ginaz.

Sidra walks in from Inner Rotunda through the Double Doors.

Sidra has arrived.

Sidra appears, after a short absence, her usual composed air about her. She takes a seat close to the Bajazet seating area. She looks contemplative, and continues to take notes.

Srulin opens his pocketwatch to check the time.

Praxton has arrived.

Praxton joins the High Council table.

Sidra joins the Bajazet seating.

Mikhail give Praxton a curt nod. "M'lord Atreides."

To the venhei, Juseppe says, "... ... ... ... ..."

Steffan nods and stands to address the council, "Grim words indeed. Frankly, my father too has surrcombed to the treachery of the Moritani and a number of other relatives as well. " He peers at the Count for a moment, "Think not a for a moment that only they have suffered. It seems strange at this time, that we suddenly need a new Judge of the Change.."

Mikhail mutters to Praxton, "It... present... gave his most... believe... it is... of... of..."

Cesare sits forward in his chair and exclaims, "We most certainly do need a new Judge of the Change! All the sooner that I may dispatch your soul to Hell, if even Hell will have you, Ginaz!"

Iason does his best to bow from where he's seated.

Boris roars with mirth at Cesare's words, encouraging him. "Yes, splendid!"

Mikhail rises from his seat, placing his hands flat on the table before him. "Lord Ginaz please! Lord Moritani!" he slams the gavel on the table once. "There will be order, damn it there will be order."

Nadira watches now with almost visible amusement. This is /better/ then gladiatorial games.

Srulin suddenly feels like wanting to speak up but refrains himself from doing so. The Cesare's words are not impressing, indeed.

Cesare looks to the presiding Na-Earl and inquires, quite levelly, "Order? What order can there be when these villains still breathe Kaitain air?"

Hakeem walks in from Inner Rotunda through the Double Doors.

Hakeem has arrived.

Sartori the Caid begins watching intently

Srulin crumbles his hands into balls. Wanting very deeply to draw Moritani blood for those unpleasant words.

Bulova continues to write notes, and becomes interested in the affairs of the Moritani's and the Ginaz'.

Hakeem walks in quietly...praying to Allah that he does not look too rustled from surgery 30 mins ago.

Steffan walks away from the table to better address the council. He turns to momentarily glance at the Count, "Diagree with you did he? Not willing to be bribed or coerced by you, Count Moritani? Is that why brought on his untimely demise? " He turns back to the council, "I suggest you investigate this treachery...such a thing should not go unpunished.."

Mikhail looks to the Count Moritani, "M'lord Cesare, please. I ask that you refrain from inflamatory remarks if only for a moment. A new Judge of the Change will have to be selected and approved by his Majesty."

Mikhail mutters to Praxton, "... not... Majesty..."

Hakeem sits in the second row watching the Bajazet side, winking abit.

Boris scoffs at Steffan, "He's got you by the short ones, youngster!"

Cesare quirks an eyebrow at the Marquis Ginaz. "Your Father was a prattling fool who deserved to die. The sooner the better that the Old Marquis could begin to writhe in eternal agony, so say I, and all the sooner that you can join him!"

Cesare nods in deferrence to the High Council table and resumes his seat, content to let the tumult settle as they would see fit.

Praxton raises his voice enough to be heard by all, yet remains as casual as is seemly. "I have a question to pose to you, Count Moritani...."

Steffan turns around to look at the Count, "Try and defeat me you old fool, and your people will get to see you eaten by those same worms as Galeazzo!..."

Hasan shakes his head at the outbursts.

Cesare looks to the Duke Atreides. "You may pose whatever question you so desire. I have yielded the floor."

His composure regained, Mikhail raises a hand, a mischevious gleam flickers in his ice blue eyes. "There will be silence Marquis Ginaz. Duke Atreides now speaks."

"If memory serves," says Praxton in a conversational timbre, "This Congress lost the ability to recommend a Judge of the Rite by proceedure, not that many months ago. The choice of Judge now rests squarely on the Throne. Have you petitioned His Majesty for a Judge of the Rite?"

Steffan clasps his hands behind his back, "of course..." He goes back to the table and sits down.

Cesare nods to the thoroughly honourable Atreides. "He has been petitioned. I requested as such almost immediately upon my ... return to Kaitain."

Iason listens silently, head cocked to one side.

Praxton nods once, very slowly. "And I assume, then, by your discourse, that your petition has met no redress?"

Cesare tenses his jaw slightly and nods in affirmation. "It indeed has not, cher cousine."

"So I thought," rejoins the Duke. "And if I may ask, and also of the Marquis Ginaz," this with a glance towards the other end of the Hall, "What exactly this Congress should do to oblige your august Houses in a way this Congress is Conventionally empowered to?"

Cesare replies blithely, "Perhaps the broaching of this matter before this august assemblage might aide in bringing His Majesty to a more ... timely decision. As has been displayed here, both Moritani and Ginaz are anxious to resume kanly. The sooner that transpires, the sooner I may see their ignominious ilk obliterated from existence."

Steffan quirks a brow, "I do not believe it is our responsiblity to judge ourselves. If the council, or His Majesty wishes to appoint and watch our moves, so be it. It is our responisiblity to declare kanly but not to appoint a Judge of the Change. The Judge is a member of the court and reports to not to us. If he fails to do so, a new one should be appointed in his place but I don't believe I am responsible for him or his well being."

Adrian walks in from Inner Rotunda through the Double Doors.

Adrian has arrived.

Sidra looks unconcernedly at Juseppe.

Novak walks in from Inner Rotunda through the Double Doors.

Novak has arrived.

Praxton stirs a bit in his seat. "That's as may be, cousines," he says, a touch tensely, "But the fact remains that this Congress, and it's Councilmen, have done all but appoint a Judge ourselves, which we cannot do. As a matter of fact, we cannot intervene at all unless the kanly is suspended.... de jure, not just the present de facto."

Sidra says, "I am certain, Chancellor, that it was a decision on the part of The Emperor."

Cesare glowers, but does not move to argue. "Well then perhaps this instance will show clear to His Majesty that a new Judge is vitally needed. The very fact that there are warm bodies in the Ginaz benches emphasizes that point."

Novak walks into the chamber hastily and bowing before the chamber. He then moves towards the Venhei section.

Sartori nods disapprovinly at the continued venom.

From House Atreides, Iason merely observes, moving only to blink now and again, if that.

Hakeem smiles to Novak entering the Venhei side.....for along time it has been very empty like a bare breadbox.

Adrian bows to the assembled siridar's and moves to the Bajazet area

From House Ginaz, Justine's hand lifts to her lowered forhead and rubs it lightly as these threats are giving her a headache.

Eduard speaks up lazily, almost a murmur. "My lord Chairman, if I may?" he addresses Praxton.

Steffan looks at Cesare with a faint smile but remains quiet for the moment.

Praxton replies pleasantly, with a nod towards the man next to him. "I am not holding the gavel this eve, Your Highness. The Honorable Mikhail is."

Eduard politely, almost demurely awaits permission to speak from Mikhail.

Mikhail nods in assent.

Hakeem Looks around the room at the colors of the different houses draped like a rainbow all over the chamber hall...

From House Bajazet, Juseppe snaps his finger at Assistant.

Nadira continues to watch, now more like a bored cat.

From House Bajazet, Hasan watches the Prince intently.

An Bajazet Assitant runs from the back of the room to Juseppe.

An Bajazet Assistant runs from Juseppe.

Hakeem watches what is going on with the assistant.

Eduard intones, "I will be happy to bring the recommendations of this august body to my brother's notice. I know he takes great interest in this ancient disagreement between Moritani and Ginaz. I am sure he will also place value in this body's role as an advisory to his own sage judgment."

Cesare smiles with appreciation to His Royal Highness and seems content to let it pass at that ... for now.

Hakeem joins the Bajazet seating.

Hakeem looks at Hasan.

Steffan smiles thinly at Eduards words, now looking much less tense than before.

Praxton quirks a brow, pleasantly suprised by this turn. "If it suits Your Highness to involve Your Person in these affairs, I'm sure this Congress entire would be very thankful."

Eduard nods. "But that would involve this body coming to some sort of conclusion. Surely these two esteemed Siridars can do better than exchange insults in the Congress halls? Doesn't the Landsraad owe it them, to aid them in a conclusion?"

Cesare quirks an eyebrow at the mention of 'insults', but will not expound further in that respect.

Praxton looks at Steffan, then at Cesare, silently prodding them to reply.

Cesare suggests humbly, "I think perhaps the Landsraad Congress, in a corporate effort, could petition His Imperial Majesty for a Court session to deal with this matter. Such unilateral support would be of immense aide."

From House Atreides, Iason raises a brow, but does nothing else, as still as a statue.

Steffan looks at Cesare breifly, "By conclusion, do you mean resolution? an end to the Kanly?"

Cesare snorts slightly. "I mean nothing of the kind. It will take time to slit all your throats. I mean resolution in the appointment of a new Judge of the Change."

Praxton knits his brow, stirring once more in the tall chair. "I cannot but bristle at such a suggestion, Count Moritani. The Landsraad is far above the level of the petitioner at His Majesty's Court. And it must not escape the Congress' notice that if His Majesty would take a moment from his impossible schedule to attend Congress, you may have obtained a 'resolution' an hour ago."

Cesare looks dryly to the Duke Atreides. "You said it, cher cousine ... not I."

A Dark Figure walks into the back in of the Chamber and sits in the back most row.

Steffan smirks, and shakes his head.

Lochinvar jaw tenses.

Boris rises from his seat, sketching a short bow towards the high council seats, then marches out.

Boris walks to the east and passes through the Double Doors.

Boris has left.

Nadira smiles a touch. The Old Boar having stepped out, she can't help but wonder what's going on his crafty mind. Deciding to find out, she slips out doors, though with less obvious presentation then the Harkonnen did.

Nadira walks to the east and passes through the Double Doors.

Nadira has left.

From House Atreides, Iason lets out a quiet breath, at the passing of the Baron.

The Dark Figure nods, for a Runners Attention.

Hasan leaves the Bajazet seating.

A Runner approaches the figure.

Hasan bows towards the Throne. As he departs up the aisle, a small puncture wound is visible on his left thigh.

Hakeem leaves the Bajazet seating.

Hasan walks to the east and passes through the Double Doors.

Hasan has left.

Hakeem looks toward Hasan, watching him leave with the wound...he quickly hurries.

Hakeem walks to the east and passes through the Double Doors.

Hakeem has left.

The Figure hands the runner a note and points to Eduard.

The Runner nods and quickly walks over to Eduard.

Justine's eyes finally open and her head rises once the threats have ended. She catches sight of Hasan leaving but re-focuses her attention back to the Council table.

The Runner stops at the Corrino Table bows low and hands Eduard a note.

Eduard speaks, "I cannot speak to that issue, Lord Chairman. But if this council does not wish to come to such a conclusion I will be happy to withdraw my offer."

Sidra rises and curtseys graciously

"Then we may venture to say that discussion on the matter is closed?", says Praxton. Without pausing, he picks up the last sheet of embossed paper from the table before him. "Moving on..."

Praxton scans the top lines of the last agenda item, searching about the part of the Hall where House Venhei should be seated.

The runner is waiting for Eduard to take the note from him.

Eduard scribbles a note and passes it back.

Novak begins to stir in his seat, shifting his weight around to maintain comfort.

The runner takes the note and bows. He turns and walks back to the figure.

The Dark Figure takes the note and nods.

The runner walks away.

The Dark Figure walks out of the room and drops a crumpled piece of paper on the ground.

Cromwell walks to the east and passes through the Double Doors.

Cromwell has left.

Eduard nods to Cromwell.

Steffan gathers his papers together and places them into a folder. He smothers his cigar into the tray. He looks up expecting there to be more, but prepares to leave.

Praxton clears his throat. "Congress is hereby called to witness that, as per the Forms concerning constitution as a House Major, the new leadership of House Venhei will now present itself."

Juseppe uses his cane to stand up.

Iason's head turns to look at the new leader.

Steffan raises a brow, looking at the table where the Venhei would be seated.

Juseppe walks out of the chamber with a slight sign of disgust on his face.

Juseppe walks to the east and passes through the Double Doors.

Juseppe has left.

Praxton indicates Novak with a genteel bob of his head, "Sir, you have the floor."

Novak stands up from the Venhei seats, bowing to the congress again. "I am Novak Dusko Venhei new leadership to house Venhei, my Lord."

Novak brushes off his jacket, carefully fixing it up while he stands before the congress.

Novak continues, "Those of the Imperium have probably heard that the new leadership of House Venhei has fallen under the House Minor Obrenovi... With the new Venhei asserting itself into the Empire, we hope to be more productive than before, serving the Imperium as efficent as possible, both houses united. Venhei and Obrenovi together."

From House Ginaz, Justine leans towards you slightly and whispers out of the corner of her mouth, "I'm sure you've thought of this, My Marquis, but I think the allowance of a new House might be a good thing. One can always use more allies, especially in cases of war." She then sits herself straight again.

Novak bows again, "That is all that Venhei wishes to conclude, my Lord." He retakes his seat.

Eduard walks to the east and passes through the Double Doors.

Eduard has left.

Lochinvar looks around the room seeing that he is the only Corrino noble left.

Praxton returns the bow, setting down the sheet of parchment he was holding. "Well spoken, sir." He picks up the gavel beside him. "I hereby conclude the proceedings for this Session Ordinary. Pending further business, Congress stands adjourned.

From House Ginaz, Steffan smiles and whispers back, "Indeed it would. We know little of Venhei but I have heard that they lean more towards our values and those of the Bajazet rather than Harkonnen and the Moritani." He leans back in his chair smiling and whispers again, "Perhaps YOU can go and speak with them. See if you can forge new relations with them."

Lochinvar stands and stretches, every vertebrea cracks as he bends backwards.

From House Ginaz, Justine's head turns towards you and a brow rises, "Me, Marquis? I am not a diplomat. That job is reserved for those you have appointed in doing so."

From House Ginaz, Steffan looks up at the council as the annoucement of adjournment is made. He sighs and pulls his portfolio closer to him, "Nonsense, I am too busy at the moment to address a new house. We are not negotiating any kind of treaty or asking for any favors at the moment. We simply desire to know more about them. Besides, as Marquise, they would have a great respect for you." He looks up as he sees others leaving, "Time to go my dear Marquise. "

From House Ginaz, Justine frowns slightly but nods and whispers, "Whatever you wish." She stands stiffly and leaves the seating area.

Steffan walks to the east and passes through the Double Doors.

Steffan has left.

Novak walks to the east and passes through the Double Doors.

Novak has left.

You walk through the Double Doors.

Inner Rotunda -- Landsraad Congress (Kaitain)

The room opens into a circular rotund. Several stories above is the domed CEILING, just opaque enough to let in light during the day. A large set of double doors head off to the west and two smaller ones are off to the north and south. Between these doors are sets of CHAIRS, set about for people to rest in.
