The Imperial Embassies and High Imperial Offices -- Imperial Palace (Kaitain)
These offices, paneled in dark wood tones, convey a sense of businesslike affluence. A large wrap-around reception desk confronts visitors and channels traffic to a waiting area where deep and comfortable chairs invite the visitor and filmbooks are available for viewing. These halls, effectively the Executive Offices of the Imperium, are where the work of the Imperium is done. One can only wonder at what decisions and directions have been decided within these walls. A RECEPTIONIST sits behind the reception desk, seemingly occupied with other matters.

Office of the Imperial Chancellor -- Imperial Palace (Kaitain)
The Lord Chancellor's office serves as the nerve center of the Imperium. All communications and orders to the various departments of the Imeprial government pass through here on their way toward their destination. As befits the magnitude of the work carried on here, no expense has been spared in its appointments. A plush Gamont rug covers the teak flooring. The walls are of finely embossed marble. Recessed wall sconces display priceless portraits of great CHANCELLORS of the past and other works of art.
A massive mahogany DESK dominates the interior of the room with a high-backed leather chair behind. Two smaller leather chairs stand before the desk and in one corner is a sitting area made up of a settee and two chairs. A priceless antique coffee service decorates the sitting area. BOOKSHELVES on the north wall store display a series of hundreds of identical red-bound leather volumes--the Great Convention and its countless commentaries from the millenia.
All in all the room conveys a sense of quiet dignity, and efficiency reflecting its current occupant and the tradition he serves.

Justine enters with a nervous smile and asks, "Am I interrupting?"
Cromwell stands and smiles upon seeing the lady enter, "Not at all. Please come in."
Justine nods a little as she enters and closes the door behind her. She moves over to one of the chairs and sits down, "I spoke with Earl Rastanyev and Marquis Ginaz today. I had tried to speak to more, but the others were busy. I have some information that might be helpful and I have another request to make, if I may."
Cromwell motions toward a chair, "Please sit and by all means tell me what you have learned."
Justine inhales and then speaks, "Well, they agreed to speak with the others and try to convince them not to evacuate for the time being. Although, their main concern isn't exactly with the Caid. It's another matter that is somewhat related but not entirely. They told me their grievances and in doing so, I made them an offer that they like very much and have asked me to speak on at the next meeting. That is why I am here, to tell you of the new proposal and get your permission before I am to speak on it."
Cromwell birdges his fingers infront of his mouth, "What is the proposal?"
Justine swallows heavily and then softly answers, "That I am to be a Liason between the Siridari and the Emperor and yourself. They discuss what their concerns are to me and in turn, I present them to you and/or the Emperor. Seeing as how everyone is highly emotional and not exactly rational with matters, it might be best to have a more neutral party helping with the mediation, so to speak."
Cromwell lowers his fingers and seems somewhat suprised, "That is all?"
Justine nods, "For now, at least. I mean, this is what the Earl and Marquis wish for me to ask the Congress to allow at the next meeting. If everyone is in agreement, and you and our Majesty as well, then I will begin the discussions. Finding out exactly what their grievances are and present them to you and/or the Emperor, then take what you say and in turn, tell them."
Justine's head shakes, "This does not, however, include the situation with the Caid. For now, I have told the two of them to inform the others that if they wish to file grievances and provide proof against the Caid then they need to do so now. Either to me or to you, preferably to you."
Cromwell nods then smiles, "I can tell you that I have absolutly no problem with implementing that arrangement you have proposed. In fact it is very much along the lines of the idea we had talked about before. As long as you feel comfortable with taken on such an assignment that is?"
Justine nods quickly with a broad smile, "Oh yes, I do. If it will help the situation, I will do everything I can. I don't like all of the animosity floating around, there's enough going on without it. But thank you, Vincent. I will do my best not to let you or anyone else down."
Cromwell says, "I appreciate everthing you have been trying to do. It cannot be easy for you to be caught in the middle as you are."
Justine's head shakes, "No, it isn't easy." She then smiles a little, "But since when has my life ever been easy? If I can do something for the greater good of those I love and care for, then it will all be worth it."
Cromwell nods, "A very commendable goal."
Justine smiles a she rises from her chair, "We all have the same goal, Vincent. Just right now, things are pretty cloudy for everyone. I'm sure that we all will be able to come to some sort of agreement that everyone can live with and things will soon be back to the way they once were."
Cromwell rises as well, "Let us hope so. I wish you luck. You will need it." He winks.
Justine chuckles with a nod, "Thanks and you're right, I will." She offers a warm, gentle smile, "Again, thank you for allowing me to help everyone. I will report to you whenever I have new and viable information. We'll make a wonderful team, you'll see." She waves and heads out.
Cromwell chuckle slightly has she leaves.
