Over your communicator's secure frequency, a man's voice says, "Message from
ornithopter 2729, bound for Alvstad Estate, requesting clearance, "This is
the Na Duke Mintor Atreides requesting clearance.""
You clear the vehicle over your communicator.
Over your communicator's secure frequency, a man's voice says, "Clearance has
been granted for vehicle 2729, bound for the Alvstad Estate, by Jans."
You walk through the Heavy Double Doors.
Mushtamal -- Alvstad Estate (Kaitain)
A large mushtamal, or garden courtyard, occupies the area between the southeast
and southwest wings of the Alvstad Estate. This garden, however, contains
only the sparest of plant life; instead, it resembles, more than anything, a
Zensufi rock garden. Large bluish rocks sit atop a well-tended bed of dark
sand, groomed into an intricate design by tiny rakes. In the center of the
mushtamal, a large circular pond ripples peacefully. In the center of the
pond, a large blue statue of a mermaid gazes across the square toward a small
blue statue of a seabird, which, in turn, stares transfixed at the mermaid.
Small, hardy plants poke out of both the sand and the water, and tiny exotic
fish dart across the pond. A wide, circular stone path--wide enough to permit
limousine access--surrounds the garden and serves as a traffic loop, and
three orinthopter pads abut the garden on the south, southeast, and southwest
sides.

Heavy Double Doors <N> leads to Grand Balcony -- Alvstad Estate (Kaitain)
An Atreides Ornithopter slowly spirals down making a soft landing.
Mintor climbs out of the Atreides Ornithopter.
Mintor has arrived.
You see a man, around six feet tall wearing an Atreides black uniform. The
uniform, shows the outlines of his muscular body, and broad chest. The
uniform is highly decorated, with a maroon cord, a green and black sash, and
the Atreides hawk, on a field of pine, perched on his left breast. His
features, are like that of the Hawk that rests on his chest. Strong hazel
eyes, that pierce passionate. A defined granite like jaw, almost like a beak.
The jaw is neatly covered with a jet black beard, like his wavy hair. His
complexion is like that of olives, and his features are quite pleasant. His
cologne wafts like the summer nights on Caladan, delicate but yet masculine.
From his appearence his demeanor seems pronouced, and outgoing.
Mintor just looked at you.
The Atreides Ornithopter lifts up into the sky and departs.
Mintor exits the Ornithopter, two Atreides guards follow behind him just for
precautions. You can tell the young Na Duke hates escorts. He bows to the
Viscount, "M'lord Viscount, it has been a long time."

Jans smiles, offering a polite, friendly nod before offering his hand. "It has,
my friend. It seems since I have replaced my father, my duties keep me away
much too long. It does not seem all that long ago, that you, Cesare, and
myself were busy with less important thigns, to be sure."
Jans chuckles. "Ah, but they worry who is not in my bed." He turns, indicating
to the younger man to walk with him a little. "Not too bad, I do try to spend
most of my time near the equator, which does have nice sailing weather." He
limps slightly as he walks, leaning on the cane a bit more than usual.
Jans continues, "I was there to get away for a while. His Majesty and I do not
see eye to eye on many things. So, I put some House Minor affairs in order,
and reminded several of my House, and their staff, that I am still Siridar,
and am not my father."
Mintor walks with Jans, nodding as he talks, "Caladan has excellent sailing
weather this year as well, and of course the mussel farms are at a peak this
year. By the way I should bring you some, to celebrate the your coming." He
shakes his head at the mention of the Emperor, quieting his voice abit, "His
Majesty has become abit....strange lately. He has spent most of his days in
the Hall of Emperors choosing new statues to errect monuments for himself,
rumor around the Palace has it he is going senile. I know he has always
been...abit.....egotistic as with all Emperors but this is begining to be
bothersome."
Jans laughs lightly. "Indeed. Perhaps I shall engage the Duke to help me
persuade the Landsraad to actually open their eyes a bit more."
Mintor adds, "I have also heard he is planning on taking a statue of Butler,
and placing a statue of himself on her steed. It is very interesting but
quite queer in a sense."
Jans pauses. "Indeed. Perhaps he thinks he himself has made some great
contribution to society."
Mintor hmms, "Perhaps, but tell me, has he truely done anything dramatic in the
past years. So far he has several people, including the Caid. Talk of him
just died down after that."
(OOC) Mintor says, "executed several people...sorry"
Jans stops near the fountain, and lowers his voice. "There are the rumors about
ornithopter accident that are still unexplained. And as to why he continued
to support House Venhei's CHOAM contract to manufacture ornithopter's, when
several members of House Corrino wanted Venhei punished. He may have had a
larger impact than many think."
Mintor nods, looking at the fountain, "It just seems that the Island of Corrin
as well as the Palace has been stained with more blood than ever. Thank the
fates for the Landsraad."
Jans shrugs, and a note of contempt enters his voice. "Perhaps he feels his
'protection of his noble cher children' is grand enough."
Jans taps his cane on the casement of the fountain. "What really troubles me,
regarding the Landsraad, is Rastanyev. They were adamant in stating how
absurd his protective decrees were, yet now they coddle with the Emperor as a
babe to his mother's milk. It is most disturbing. If Ginaz ever sides with
Bajazet and Rastanyev, the Landsraad will be a mute point, my friend."
You say, "Or should he bribe Moritani off with support for Arrakis.....this
Emperor troubles me greatly. I fear if I step too far, he might have my blood
flowing, even if I am well within the forms."
Mintor nods, "It just seems that Houses such as yours and mine are watching the
actions of the universe like ripples in a pond." He tosses a small pebble in
the pond, "But it is like my Brother said, it is better if we wait."
Jans sighs deeply. "I am not so sure I agree. We must lay the foundation of a
plan while we wait. This cannot go on, or the forms will be destroyed."
Mintor says, "I went to him last month to ask for a Sardaukar escort for my
Brother on his trip to Giedi. His Majesty basically bribed me, asking me to
/encourage/ my Brother to support him on the Landsraad floor, then he would
support my Brother. The audacity in that man, Has he no morals? No chivalry?"
Mintor nods, "Well not so much as wait, but this is a very delicate time.
Something must be done.."
Jans looks at you out of the corner of his eye. "Tell me, did he give the
escort?"
Mintor shakes his head at Jans, "No, he did not. We are still wondering about
how to provide protection. I will have to just send one of my men."
Mintor adds, "I imagine the Baron will not try anything, afterall I have a good
friendship with him and his daughter, but smiling faces sometime stab you in
the back when your head is turned."
Jans nods, frowning. "I see. Well, it is not Kaitain, I am sure a traditional
guard would not be unwelcomed by the Harkonnen." He taps the cane again. "If
only His Majesty would hold Imperial Court, we could ask him in front of his
supporters."
Mintor sighs, "It would be no use, the Landsraad has not supported the fact of
Sardaukar protecting different members of the Great Houses, remember when the
Sardaukar acted as the police force on Kaitain? Horrible, and these are the
actions of the Emperor!"
Jans nods, "But if one were to ask him in Court, he could not bribe you behind
closed doors, nor could he flat out refuse. He would have to give some
answer, in public."
Mintor nods with a sigh, "I believe I will just have to take care of this
matter myself, it just seems he is looking at us in a petri dish, laughing."
Jans nods, sensing the converstation ending slightly, he begins walking back
toward the ornithopter pad. "If I remember my schooling correctly, there are
many things in those dishes that can be deadly."
Mintor speaks into his communicator.
An Atreides Ornithopter slowly spirals down out of the sky and lands softly.
Mintor nods, "Perhaps. I am sorry, but I am afraid I must be off. Goodbye my
friend."
Mintor has left.
Mintor climbs into the Atreides Ornithopter.
The wings of the Atreides Ornithopter begin beating, slowly lifting it upwards
into the sky.
