Imperial Court 15/01/01

Here it is, the Court session.  I have edited most of the comings and goings and moving into places to make space, except for the necessary ones.  Hopefully we'll all look back and still laugh a little at Paddy's actions :).

-  Setzer

Imperial Selamlik -- Imperial Palace (Kaitain)

The Imperial Selamlik, the throne room of His Majesty the Emperor of the Known Universe, is a massive, elongated hall in the baroque style. The gold leafed walls to the East and West slope gently upwards, forming a gentle set of delicately detailed arches with triangular recesses. Inside one of these, along the East wall, is the black desk of the Emperor's personal secretary. The ceiling, culmination of the arches is a rectangular enclave filled with carvings of the finest detail. A soft golden light drifts downward, filling the chamber with a warm golden-red hue. The floor is of bare, sheer black granite, polished to perfection, absorbing light and throwing only a subtle reflection. Against the oval shaped, far North wall, atop a 5 foot dais sits the imposing Golden Lion Throne, housed under an enclosing cowl, 7 meters tall and 6 meters wide. Two narrow, golden pillars seem to support the cowl from either side of The Lion Throne. Behind the Throne, to the rear of the dais dozens of elegant, golden pillars line the north wall. High Imperial Noukker Honor GUARDS stand at intervals in the chamber, leaving the dais itself a respectful distance.

You enter the Imperial Selamlik.

Setzer moves in rather hurriedly, and takes his place in the West-alcove with House Venhei.

Jereth walks in shortly behind Gaia.

Gaia moves in with Setzer.

Ermengildo enters with a bit of pomp. He wears the usual cloak that he wears for special occasions. The cloak made of fine Grumman silk, with gold points representing the stars of the Imperium. In the middle of the stars is one glorious, shining azure star Niushe, the sun of Grumman. The cloak is carried in train by two Moritani servants as he goes to the East Alcove.

From the west alcove, Aleikum stands behind Sarina arms crossed.

From the west alcove, The Bajazet Party appears rather reserved tonight, although both the Sultan and the Baroness are in attendance. Their appearance is as neat as expected, but there is something sagging and almost weary about the way that they wait, close enough to be leaning on each other, for the Emperor's arrival.

Erich emerges from behind the Lion Throne.

Erich has arrived.

A trumpet flourish sounds. An Honor Guard announces loudly, "His Most Imperial Majesty, The Padishah Erich Ladislas Corrino, Emperor of the Known Universe!"

From the west alcove, Setzer moves into his seat, a smile on his lips as he bows generally and flicks his cape back, sitting down.

Steffan bows deeply as the Emperor arrives.

From the west alcove, Jereth follows Gaia's lead, obviously his first experience at the Palace..

Setzer rises and bows deeply as the Emperor enters, eyes to the ground, not looking up and making no sounds nor gestures.

Nestor bows at the entrance of the Emperor, breaking from his statue-like stance for the moment it takes.

From the west alcove, Muradin seems intent on taking everything in, features stamped with seriousness, then his brows rise as the Emperor enters, showing the interest building within him.

Ermengildo bows as the Emperor enters, the golden stars draping around him like Mithras.

Gaia dips into a curtsey in the directionopf the emperor, her eyes downcast.

Tat'iana dips into a low, graceful curtsy as the Emperor is announced, her head bowed and eyes lowered.

From the west alcove, Ruhail and his party of Bajazets bow, curtsey, and otherwise appropriately show their respect to the entering Padishah. There is, however, no visible emotion apparent in any of their actions, save perhaps the eagerness of a few who have never before seen the Lion's Court.

Cromwell enters from the hall of emperors.

Cromwell has arrived.

Iason moves to kneel, as the Emperor arrives.

Anakiel bows, fluid and graceful, deep enough one might wonder why he isn't tipping over. And holds it, too, gaze on the floor.

Clinging tenaciously to his cane, Sergei does his best to bow as the Emperor makes his enterance.

Jereth rises and bows deeply, eyes downcast, watching what the opthers are doing..

A warm smile on his face, Satyavrat bows from his place next to the Tsarina and Lady Rastanyev, his eyes easily sliding from their wanton examination of the room to the ground.

Lena curtsies deeply with her eyes directed toward the floor.

Alixana dips into a low curtsey as the Emperor enters, eyes lowered.

Cromwell raises his voice, "Oyez, Oyez. His Most Sublime Imperial Majesty Erich Ladislas Corrino, Padishah Emperor of the Known Universe overlord of Arrakis, Kaitain, and Selusa. All hail!"

A resounding clarion call of trumpets accompanied by the bellowing of the Honour Guard greets Erich as he enters at the announcement of his Chancellor and moves promptly to seat himself upon the Golden Lion Throne, given quite ironic potency with the advent of a new pet which sits placidly at the Emperor's feet ... a lion cub.

Erich sits down on the Golden Lion Throne.

The Tsarina Rastanyev lowers fluidly into a flawless curtsey, her eyes remaining appropriately downcast. And to think.. such grace from a common born woman?

Paddy opens his mouth slowly, stretching it as far as he can get it and shows off his small, yet very sharp teeth as his pink tongue curls up and back. As he yawns, his back arches and his front paws stretch out before him, sharp claws protracting and retracting at will. As cute as the scene is, the teeth and claws are enough to remind anyone that this little thing can rip just about anything to shreds.

Cromwell stands to the right of the throne.

From the west alcove, Gaia shudders at the sight of the lion cub and steps closer to Setzer now

From the left dais, Davir moves one foot forward to offer a fluid bow to Erich, then with an amused grin, he inclines his head respectfully to the lion cub as well, just for good measure. As he settles back into his stance, he places his palms together in a silent clap to the Emperor's new pet before returning his face to a more serious mask.

The Emperor shifts slightly forward upon his throne, gesturing towards his Chancellor to begin business, the lion cub at his feet sprung into activity at the sight of so many new and unusual people, Paddy rising on his little paws to pad off the dais and into the crowds.

The Count Burseg enters behind the Emperor. He powerful legs move him to stand beside his paragon. The man show's no emotions as he moves forward. Nothing but stoic silence. Stopping, he stands beside the Emperor letting his single eye fall apon those gathered.

Paddy sniffs with his little wet nose, denoting a curious scent emanating from the Harkonnen delegation, and the little lion cub heads that-a-way.

Erich rises from his throne and extends forth a hand, calling out amongst his subjects, "Lady Tat'iana Rastanyev, please be kind enough to come forward."

From the west alcove, Setzer blinks slightly, noticing the cub from the corner of his eye. He seems to be surpressing a smirk, then returns his attentions once again to the movements in court.

Tat'iana leaves from her place in the east alcove.

From the west alcove, Sin'Vaari's eyes look down at the cub, his lips curling into a predatory smile.

From the west alcove, Ruhail's mood lifts, if only briefly, as he notes the lion cub's direction. His attention quickly returns to the Lady Rastanyev and the Emperor, however.

Gathering her skirts, Tat'iana slips through the crowded nobles to approach the throne as she is called for. As she steps forward, her head remains lowered, and at a point near enough she sweeps her silken skirts aside and lowers herself to a deep curtsey, quite nearly all the way to the floor.

Erich smiles quite uncharacteristically broadly at the approach of the Lady Rastanyev, his hand bidding her ascend the dais. "Come, stand beside me here," he offers with his outstretched hand.

From the west alcove, Setzer almost rolls his eyes at the sudden movement. One wonders which is more the pet: The Lion Cub or the Rastanyev.

Tat'iana rises from her curtsy, wordlessly accepting the invitation. With head high, and serene of expression, she steps forward - to the Emperor's right, upon the dais.

Tat'iana stands to the right of the throne.

From the west alcove, Steffan raises a brow as Lady Rastanyev stands next the Emperor.

Erich takes the hand of the Lady Rastanyev into his own and lifts it, turning to grin proudly at the masses as he announces, "We have, since the day of assuming this throne, lived with the knowledge of the precariousness of our rule until such time as we establish a family and a future dynasty for House Corrino. Today, we embark upon the first step towards that end, with our partner ... our love ... our future Empress, the Lady Tat'iana Rastanyev. We do hereby officially announce our betrothal, a wedding to hopefully follow in the next few months as we with House Rastanyev plan the details."

From the east alcove, Satyavrat's expression is anything but serene, and there is a flush of emotion clearly visible there. Excitement, pride...these are easily distinguished. Those with a deeper sensitivity might, however, notice a slightly pained look in his eyes even as he smiles broadly. He is one of the first in the hall to begin the thunderous clapping that follows, the words, "Long live the Emperor and his Lady!" upon his lips.

From the west alcove, Jereth barely holds in a gasp..

Tat'iana's expression of serenity cracks, and she is unable to stifle the bright smile that lights up her face, as well as the deep blush. She inclines her head in acknowledgement, and agreement, with Erich's words, then sparing her family members in the east alcove another nod and smile.

From the west alcove, Setzer watches Satyavrat carefully for a few moments before moving to clap himself, however not quite as elated as the Rastanyev is. Perhaps he's trying to hold back saying "Like we didn't see that one coming."

From the west alcove, Jereth joins in with the rest of the throng...

The Emperor assumes his throne once more and with insistent gaze bids his betrothed remain on the dais as he announces, "My lady and I intend to host a masquerade ball within the coming weeks to celebrate this happy union, and take this opportunity to serve notice that all of Kaitain's noble number are invited to join us in celebration."

From the west alcove, Steffan begins to smile broadly. He looks about to see how other have reacted to the news.

From the west alcove, Setzer remains his impassive self, though he does turn to his daughter and smile at her, knowing that she may enjoy the social occassion. Perhaps he might too if he wasn't such a stick-in-the-mud half the time.

Erich even admist this happy time sparing little before returning to business, the Emperor looks again to the Lady Rastanyev before turning back to the supplicants to continue on with business. "Let Lord Bulova or else his chosen proxy for House Venhei step forward."

Taking the hint from the glance, Tat'iana gives a slight nod, and clasps her hands before her. She makes no move to leave the dais, instead, taking the opportunity to observe the gathering from a different perspective this evening. Her eyes move over the crowd at a leisurely pace, her expression again settling back to what it was before the proclamation.

From the west alcove, Jereth smiles and nods, standing with the rest of the Venhei crowd..

Paddy weaves through the legs of various Harkonnen dignitaries occasionally stopping to rub up against a leg or play with an errant bootstrap as he proceeds through the forest of people.

Setzer moves from his seat to the edge of the west alcove, then to the front of the Lion Throne and kneels at the stairs, scarlet cape flowing brightly to either side of him, while his eyes are downcast and await the bidding of his Emperor.

You leave from the west alcove.

You stand in the area before the Golden Lion Throne.

Erich peers over the bridge of his nose in imperious appraisal of the approaching lord, his brow furrowing as he blithely states, "Your lord has for some time now petitioned our throne to confirm him in his offices as Siridar-Baron Venhei. We have long reviewed the status of your House, and voice before these your peers no small amount of displeasure in past actions taken. However, we feel it behooves us to look instead to the future, one which would be additionally dismal for House Venhei, in light of their recent loss of a valuable seat on the CHOAM Board of Directors, were they not to even have a Siridar. Therefore, we enable you to take the oath of fealty to our throne on behalf of your lord, your words as proxy as binding to him and everyone else in your House as were he here in your stead. Swear your fealty to our throne and person, m'lord."

Paddy finds his way over to the Harkonnen Mentat, looking up at the tall figure of said Nestor and rubbing up against his leg playfully.

Setzer draws himself up inside and begins to launch into his fealty, quite glad that the Emperor has overlooked the previous discrepencies held upon House Venhei and allowed them to salvage something from the recent wreckage caused by what seemed to be endless problems. With eyes downcast he states in a clear and loud voice, easily heard by all, "I, the Grand Earl Setzer Trajanus Cartusa Vaslaj, ruler of Houses Minor Cartusa and Vaslaj, Prime-Minister of the House Venhei and noble proxy of Lord Bulova Venhei-Obrenovi do hearby swear total and utter fealty to His Majesty the Padishah Emperor Erich Ladislas Corrino, first of his name, and the Golden Lion Throne of which he is Master, on behalf of the Lord Bulova and the noble House Venhei, humble servants of the Padishah Imperium and its Emperor." At the end of the statement, he goes silent again, looking like a statue mounted to the front of the Emperor's dias rather than a man swearing his fealty.

From the back of the room, Nestor looks down at the playful 'kitten' and is most obviously not an animal lover. Bending over only slightly and whispering just so that only the cub could hear if it had any modicum of intelligence, "The Baron has a klevek at the Embassy twice your size. The only way you could kill it is to choke it to death on the way down."

Paddy wanders over to Nestor, sniffing the ground at his feet. After circling around a few times, the cub then hikes his leg and tinkles all over Nestor's ankle.

From the back of the room, Nestor only smiles at the urination. Of all the horrors he may have faced growing up the son of a Harkonnen pleasure slave, this is the least of them. He smiles slightly, whispering again, "We'll talk again later..."

Erich takes no notice of the antics of his pet, nodding tersely to the Earl in acceptance of his oath. "So be it, House Venhei. In person of your new Siridar and everyone under his governance, we hold your persons, possessions, fiefs, and incomes in loyalty to our person and throne. You may congratulate your new Siridar-Baron."

The antics of the pet are, however, noted by Tat'iana. She quickly bites down on her bottom lip, turning bright red with the effort not to laugh out loud.

Ermengildo lifts his robes off the floor just a bit after the 'comical' scene.

Va'un smiles warmly at Constantina, and nods his head slightly.

Eyes still downcast, Setzer hasn't noticed a single thing, except for perhaps the Emperor's own words. He rises up slowly at them and bows low, eyes still to the ground, "House Venhei thanks His Majesty," he says as depart, then starts taking several steps backwards as is polite before moving back to his place in the west-alcove, quite glad that the matter has been resolved and that his Lord is now Siridar-Baron.

You leave from the area before the Golden Lion Throne.

You stand in the west alcove.

Erich sighs faintly and with a snap of a finger sends his pet scurrying back up the dais to sit obediently at his master's feet. The Emperor smiles blandly at the lion cub before turning back to the nobles here assembled. "Anyone with business before this Throne may now bring it forward."

You leave from the west alcove.

You stand in the area before the Golden Lion Throne.

Slade looks out to the crowd with a cold, hard face.

Setzer rises up once more, seeming to be the 'star of the show' so to speak and moves to the front of the Throne once more, taking up his kneeling position again and stating clearly, "House Venhei would humbly petition the Throne for a decision to be made on the person in position of Judge of the Change for the Moritani and Ginaz Kanly. House Venhei sees this issue as being greatly relevant to all Houses and believes it necessary to decide upon an appropriate time for Landsraad High Council to achieve its purpose in appointing a new Judge of the Change." His eyes are still down as he wonders what the responses will be.

Shane raises his brow slightly, looking over to Setzer. The youthful warmaster's expression is a little less than pleased at the 'reminder' of Kanly, of course, but he says nothing, simply lets his gaze lock there upon the person who speaks.

Ermengildo stands, looking directly at Setzer, his robes flowing with movement. His eyes narrow, and brow furrows.

Erich smiles/grimaces and notes, "We and our predecessors have attempted on several occasions to suggest a suitable candidate for Judge of the Change in the Moritani/Ginaz conflict, but to no avail. Nonetheless, since it has been petitioned, we shall do so again. We do hereby submit the candidacy of Baron Davir Willem Corrino, our Imperial Justiciar, to serve as mediator in this conflict. Let the Landsraad High Council at their next regular session deliberate his candidacy."

From the left dais, Davir keeps his expression unchanged from the casual look of interest, but he does offer a brief nod to Erich, indicating his agreement with the wisdom of the appointment. Pressing his lips together in a straight line, he looks down at the Venhei, watching for any reaction to the Emperor's will.

Setzer looks up a little to Davir, then lowers his head again in acceptance, "House Venhei thanks the noble Emperor for deliberating on this issue and looks toward a resolution soon." He then backs up again and makes his way to his seat, though his face seems to be rather impassive, perhaps a little annoyed, as though he was expecting a little more than a simple: 'Here you go, take the Baron.'

Ermengildo asks the Emperor with humility. "Your Majesty, may I step foward to represent House Moritani?"

You leave from the area before the Golden Lion Throne.

You stand in the west alcove.

From the west alcove, Jereth nods in respect to Setzer as he rejoins..

Erich perfectly scowls as he looks over towards the Moritani delegation, replying in snapping tone, "You most certainly may not. House Moritani has not seen fit to so much as commend anyone to us regarding this matter. The nomination for the Judge of the Change lies entirely in our province, and we have made our candidate known."

Ermengildo nods, "House Moritani...accepts, and thanks his Sublime Majesty for this consideration." Perhaps that is what he was going to say, formally.

Erich spares no more time for dallying and continues on with business. "We understand that the Alvstad have a matter to bring before this Court. Let their representative come forward."

Lena leaves from her place in the east alcove.

Lena steps through the crowd located in the east alcove, and approaches the area in front of the Lion Throne with her eyes downcast to voice her Viscount's announcement.

Lena stands in the area before the Golden Lion Throne.

When she reaches the allotted distance from the Emperor she takes a step back and dips into a deep curtsey. Her raven curls fall forward as her head is bowed, and her eyes gaze toward the floor. "Your Imperial Majesty as proxy to His Excellency the Viscount Alvstad, it is my honor to present to Your Majesty and His Court, that hitherto Lord Jurgen Sundsvall has sworn fealty to the Viscount Alvstad, and has been rewarded by His Excellency, The House Sundsvall, a minor fiefdom on a planet in grant to House Alvstad, and is now Earl Jurgen Sundsvall.

Erich looks expectantly to the Alvstad representative, a hand idly signalling to a nearby itinerant servant who carries a large golden covered bowl, the Emperor stating as he does so, "Then let this lord come forward to make himself known to our Court."

At the Emperor's signal, the servant comes forward with the bowl and withdraws its lid, the smell of raw meat wafting throughout the Selamlik.

As soon as the lid is removed from the bowl, Paddy's nose immediately rises in the air and begins sniffing quickly, knowing the familiar sweet scent. He rises to his feet while his tongue emerges from mouth and licks the outter rim in antisipation. You hear a 'SPLAT' sound as a piece of raw, bloody meat lands on the floor near the little lion cub, causing the juices to splatter about. Paddy crouches into attack mode and then pounces on the once live muscle and begins tearing at the reddened food hungrily. When the snack has been devoured, the tiny cub licks the floor clean, leaving no trace of it's meal.

From the west alcove, Setzer raises his brows at the cub, then chewing on the inside of his mouth to hold back his quiet disgust at the actions of having a live animal rampant during Imperial Court.

From the west alcove, Jereth smirks, noticing Setzer's displeasure...

From the west alcove, Va'un smiles and chuckles lightly at the cub.

Tat'iana glances down at the small cub as it eats, allowing the distraction to take her attention away for just a few moments. Her expression remains fixed in a neutral pose, but she unclasps her hands in front of her, to instead clasp them behind her as she shifts her stance slightly.

From the west alcove, Sin'Vaari chuckles at the reactions of several people near him to the cub's eating habits.

Lena watches the cub eat it's little snack with interest. She returns her gaze to the area in front of her and waits for the Earl Sundsvall to join her at the area in front of the throne.

Jurgen silently moves through the crowd making his way to the throne. His eyes downcast the entire journey. He dips into a deep bow, nearly scraping the floor.

Jurgen leaves from his place in the east alcove.

Jurgen stands in the area before the Golden Lion Throne.

Jurgen says simply eyes still downcast as he kneels next to Lena. "Your Majesty."

From the left dais, Davir watches the meagerly dressed 'Lord' approach with an air of distaste, his head bobbing slightly with a muffled inhale of amusement. His eyes narrow on the man, then a touch of smile washes over his face like a wave, while his thumbs touch each other lightly before his belt.

Erich lifts a hand in signal to his Captain of the Guards, smiling with almost feral malignance at the man before him. "Arrest this man ... now."

Jurgen blinks and glances up looking very confused.

Setzer blinks suddenly and looks wide eyed at Jurgen and Lena as the Emperor's order is heard. One of his eyebrows quirks up high onto his forehead, making him look like some weird peering vulture.

From the west alcove, Steffan begins to chuckle softly as he watches the proceedings.

From the west alcove, Jereth's hand goes to the hilt of his sword, hoping violence does not erupt...

Slade commands in his eerie deep voice in Sardau to the Palace Guards. Noukkers from around the Emperor and Tat'iana while Sardaukar block the exits. The Count Burseg makes his way down quickly to Raschid followd be the Sardaukar Subalterns.

When the command is given, Tat'iana permits herself a small, but cold smile towards the 'noble' kneeling before the throne. She remains silent for a moment, but then quietly says, "Yes... it is him." She keeps her feet firmly rooted the her spot on the dais, despite the urge to step closer to the throne.

Lena's eyes widen in surprise as the Emperor's guards move to arrest the Earl. She only knows that the Viscount would be most displeased, and with a soft, soothing voice Lena says, "Your Majesty I am afraid I am not sure what's going on. The Earl Sundsvall has just recently arrived from Arrakis. Forgive me Your Majesty if I implore you to explain why you take this man into custody." Although her eyes remain on the area before her, she furrows her brow.

From the west alcove, Setzer leans over to Jereth and whispers something into his ear, his vulture like expression dimming .

From the west alcove, Sin'Vaari grins sinisterly at the sudden excitement.

Erich offers no explanation to the Court, completely ignoring Lena and bidding of his Justiciar, "Read the charges, Baron."

Ermengildo sighs at this foolish impotent circus play in this Court. The center of the Universe becoming a freak show right here before the eyes of the Landsraad.

Noukkers surround the Emperor and Tat'iana. Slade steps before Jurgen, looming over him like the Angel of Death.

Ermengildo although quite disturbed by this, becomes quite ammused. <<This very court shows off so many Freudian disorders it is too sick to even stand.>>, he thinks. He rubs the bridge of his nose and watches the needless use of Imperial power.

From the west alcove, Jereth nods to Setzer and relaxes...

From the left dais, Davir shakes his head sadly at the look of confusion on Jurgen's face, though he quickly allows the amusement in his face to vanish as watches the Sardaukar surround the poor fellow. He inclines his head to Erich's request, then looks out over the assembly for a moment, then down at Jurgen as his voice resounds through the Selamlik, "This man is not Lord Jurgen Sundsvall, my lady. This man is one Master Raschid Galperin of House Rastanyev, and wanted criminal. Raschid Galperin, you are hereby charged with battery under section 515 of the Code of Kaitain. You will be held in Imperial custody until your trial by an Imperially appointed Judge."

As the charges are read, Ruhail's reserved expression is replaced with a smile that's a nearly vindictive smirk by comparison. Still, he does not move, save for tapping a finger against his wife's forearm unobtrusively.

From the west alcove, Sin'Vaari's expression follows that of his Sultan's, save for a certain homicidal sparkle in Sin's eye as he hears the charges read.

From the west alcove, Setzer suddenly breaks out a slight grin and allows himself a chuckle, crossing his arms. This is better than the Kaitain Arena. Wouldn't it be nice if they just let that littel cub eat him away on the spot. Then again, perhaps he's been around the Harkonnen too long.

From the west alcove, Va'un sighs and mumbles to himself.

Jurgen glances at Lena nervously.

Tat'iana takes advantage of the press of Noukker around herself and the Emperor to step closer to his throne now, her eyes riveted on the criminal. Hatred causes her eyes to narrow slightly, and she clenches her hands at her side as she listens to the charges read.

Erich watches the proceeds with interest, the Emperor remaining silent and allowing his trusted personnel to do their job.

From the west alcove, Sin'Vaari's grin broadens into an uncharacteristically gleeful smile as he watches Jurgen/Raschid squirm.

From the west alcove, Va'un leans foward in interest.

Lena sighs as somehow the Forms seem distorted at the moment. "The Earl is a noble of House Alvstad, as such he falls under the dictums of the Great Convention, above that of Kaitain. He cannot be arrested as a common criminal. He has not committed an act of High Treason or Malfeance. I do not know the specifics of this man you speak of, and I know not if this is the man you seek. Of course, The Forms must be obeyed, and if this is truly that man, then Your Majesty's always welcome to check over the physical examination conducted by Dr Tordarsson, House Alvstad's /imperially/ conditioned Suk." What seemed just her duty to be a messenger has gotten out of control.

From the west alcove, Steffan raises a brow, clasping his hands once more behind his back. Leaning from one side to another he gets a glimpse of this imposter.

From the west alcove, Jereth mutters, "If the crimes were commited before he was given his title, than the Forms have no precedence here..."

From the west alcove, Ruhail's eyebrow arches and he turns to look at Steffan, sharing his interest and curiosity. However, a set of the man's lips seem to indicate that he knows quite clearly that it will be more difficult to weasle one's way out of an infraction of the Code of Kaitain.

From the left dais, Davir turns his attention to Lena, wearing a face that shows a distinct amount of disappointment, as if he is almost hurt, his words carrying easily, "My Lady, it won't be necessary for my office to investigate a Proces Verbal charge against House Alvstad for Treason by purposefully aiding a known fugitive of the Imperium, will it? This man -is- what I have just said, and I find it not a little disturbing that this was allowed to happen. I can only assume that you have been duped, and I -will- be summing your Suk, you may be certain." He then holds his hand out to roll his fingers in a gesture to have the Count Burseg take the man away, but then his lips form into a smile, and he inclines his head to the Emperor, avoiding the obvious mistake in case His Majesty has further need of the mentat.

From the west alcove, Va'un casts a sideway glace at Nestor, quite apprehensivley.

Erich nods in agreement with his Justiciar and does not deign to add anything save a brief glowering glance at Lena before returning to the tense situation regarding the former Rastanyev mentat cornered herein.

From the west alcove, Setzer gently nods at Jereth, then whispers, "Exile to Salusa is the punishment for battery...he'll have a good time on a wasted planet."

Slade stands over the man and commands, "Turn around and place your hands behind you. You are under arrest by Imperial Law. Submit. This is your only warning." He takes out a pair of restraints then waits for the man to comply.

From the west alcove, Jereth mutters, "I hear it's worse than Arrakis..."

Lena purses her lips somewhat at the Justicar's words. If he so wishes to charge her House than so be it. She herself has nothing to fear. She sighs once again as an explosive situation has just occurred around her surely to cause ripples with the Landsraad and the Imperium. Not her evening to serve as proxy it seems.

Erich raps his fingers against the arms of his throne and awaits the arrest impatiently.

Jurgen rises to his feet, first gazing directly at the Emperor, then staring directly at Tat'iana, his blue within blue eyes flicking over her form before turning his back to the Burseg and placing his hands behind his back. He states to the nobility present. "I am Lord Jurgen Sundsvall. What you have witnessed here today is in direct violation of all we hold sacred in the Great Convention. You see here, a Court that would appear to hold itself above the law." he says nothing more and stands silently.

From the west alcove, Setzer sighs, "If he kept his mouth shut at least he'd be /alive/ on Salusa..now he's moving into complete and utter treason." He shakes his head at the stupidity of pride.

Erich snorts and speaks in the face of this insolence. "There has been no breach of the Great Convention save yours, 'Mentat'. No one, noble or commoner alike, has right to evade Imperial arrest. You have violated the Peace of Kaitain, and will answer for it ... as will the Viscount Alvstad for this aggregious sleight."

From the west alcove, Va'un says, "I agree with you. Pride has caused many a downfall."

From the west alcove, Ruhail's hands cross across his chest; it appears that one of the few Siridars attending this evening is *not* impressed by such bandying of words regarding the Grand Convention by one whose actions have spoken for themselves.

Slade walks up to the mentat without any emotion and places the restraints on him. The Count Burseg, with one powerful arm on the mentat's wheels the man around to face the Emperor. His vice like grips holds the man securely. By this time the Sardaukar Subalterns flank Slade and the prisoner dog.

From the west alcove, Setzer frowns now as the Emperor mentions the Viscount Alvstad as somehow parlaying in this matter. One in the position where Lena is would usually think it sensible to sit down and shut up to save their House instead of risking everything for one pathetic mans life.

Erich cuts through the air with a hand. "Take him away."

Tat'iana remains stone-still, even in the face of the masquerading mentat's stare. She returns it evenly, and her nails dig into her palms just a little more deeply.

From the left dais, Davir shakes his head once more, then clearly states as he watches the man submit and be led away, "Our dear Master Galperin is a legal expert no doubt. I will be happy to provide you with a copy of the Code of Kaitain so that you may peruse it at your leisure in your cell. You will find that only Siridari and Siridar heirs are exempt from trial by standard Imperial tribunal." He then smiles slightly, tilting his head as he adds, "Do beware those paper cuts though... they can be quite nasty."

From the west alcove, Va'un rolls his eyes at Davir's last remark. He tries to hide it, but to no avail.

Slade responds to the Emperor, "As you command, your Majesty." With that he turns the man about to the exit and begins to take him out. The Subatlerns follow as the Count Burseg removes the mentat from the Empero's sight.

Jurgen glances at Davir as he is led away, perhaps just a trace of a knowing smirk upon his face.

From the west alcove, Jereth smirks, then turns solemn, answering Setzer.."Yes, this doesn't bode well for House Alvstad.."

Lena's body remains relaxed despite the fact that Sardaukar have surrounded the man beside her. She peers at him sidelong. Whoever he is, he is in a very unfortunate position.

Jurgen passes the Vaulted Arch and departs.

Jurgen has left.

Slade passes the Vaulted Arch and departs.

Slade has left.

Erich exhales an unamused sigh and rises, announcing tersely, "If there is no more business before this Court, we do hereby announce it in adjournment."

Lena remains in the area in front of the Lion Throne. She waits patiently for the Emperor to give her leave.

Nothing else said, the Emperor descends the dais and proceeds at once into his anteroom, followed by a sea of adjutants and his ever-present Noukker guardsmen, several left behind for the Lady Rastanyev.

Lena curtsies deeply once more, and backs away from the Emperor and his throne, eyes averted to the floor until she has faded back into the crowd. Too long an evening for her.

Lena leaves from her place before the Golden Lion Throne.

Of course, with things done, Shane waits for the emperor's departure and he bows, patiently, standing then once the man has departed and he instantly goes about his searching for finding Davir....

Ermengildo stands immediately not even waiting for his servants to carry his robe train. He appears agitated, flared....He departs the alcove heading for the door.

Setzer heads quite immediately to the door as he allows a bow for the departing Emperor.

You leave from the west alcove.

You pass the Vaulted Arch and leave the Imperial Selamlik.
